Curling etiquette? You think the Koreans need to learn about these manners prior to some other kind? Canadians and their backwards moral structure Laughing

Not really etiquette, rather the rules of the sport.

No one's showing up cause it's bloody boring.

Simple as that!

How about you play a sport instead.

I take it you've never curled before? It requires lots of athletic skill.

Try sliding 8 metres or so crouched down on one foot, with a 40ish pound stone and keep your balance all the while looking to park that stone on a dime.

I've curled a few times in the past for charity events and the like, and I couldn't even keep my balance enough to actually slide the stone.I had to stay stationary like some idiot and push it down the ice!

I don't like curling and think it's boring, but it discredits the athletes and the sport itself by saying it requires no athletic skill.

Some of the shots they make are simply amazing and pure art. Try pushing yourself down the ice while sweeping furiously mere centimetres from the stone and avoid crashing into the other stones which are littered everywhere.

I do like curling and think it's exciting, but it doesn't require all that much athletic prowess. Sliding takes a bit of skill, not much, and sweeping is easy as hell. The most strenuous part of the game is hollering at your teammates.

However, it is at least as much a sport as baseball, which requires far less game-time strategy.

Have you ever been to Canada? If they're serving Moosehead, people will show up!

The world women's curling championship is happening here in Korea, but it looks like no one is showing up to see the worlds best.

If there's no Korean team, I guess they can't be bothered...

Guess what?? No one gives a sh!t about takeshima (or as you whiners call it: dokdo), the sea of japan, samulnori, koreyo, or any of the other things that twist your panties in a knot. The only retard here is you. How about you insult me back with some of that fancy ghetto english you learned while living at your aunt's house in chicago. I wanna hear some 'mofo' and some 'wtf' if you'd be so obliged. Retard!!!

I was there both Saturdays. I thought it was exciting (my wife didn't so much). It seems that the article you all are referring to was probably based on some weekday morning game when everyone was at work. There was a decent crowd considering the sport is practically unknown--at least 1500 on the first Saturday when Korea was playing, and 400 or so for the semifinals, (including about 30 or more Canadian fans). Curling tournaments never make money outside of Canada, but it is a great sport to watch and play.

Curling is about as exciting as billiards--very much so to those who appreciate the skill and strategy involved, and not so much for the uninitiated. Korea did quite well as newcomers to the sport, and China won the whole thing, so I expect it will catch on here.

Was glued to the screen when the [all-scots] British Women's Team won gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Would like to see some curling again.

On an (un)related, I find that Korean Women make great curlers.
