Last week my co-teacher went to a GEPIK conference for the NT handlers, where they all went through their guidebooks. She had quite an interesting story for me this morning. Apparently a teacher in GEPIK had either been suspected of using drugs or had a friend mail a package or drugs from back home. The police went to his school to arrest during the middle of his class, but the principal begged the police to come back after school so the students wouldn't witness the arrest. The handler heard about the impending arrest and warned the teacher to leave school immediately, in order to avoid being caught. The teacher was eventually caught, and through interrogrations, the police learned that not only did the handler tip off the NT, but they also learned that they were shagging each other.
My handler didn't say what happened to the NT, but the handler was fired.

I'm not at all suprised.

Last year, I met a new foriegn teacher. He had been here 3 weeks (or maybe 4?) and had been sleeping with his co-teacher for 2 weeks. A few weeks later, about 50 NTs had to take a public bus to get to a GEPIK orienatation and this teacher and another were both talking very loudly about where to obtain drugs etc.

It might even be the same dude.

Was the guy from the OP from Canada?

Don't know if he is from Canada.

My handler also told me that everyone was warned to keep an eye out for NTs that use drugs. "There are a lot of NTs that use drugs, more than we initially thought"

I've seen a lot of the co-teachers in GEPIK and in my opinion you'd have to be pretty hard up to tap any of that. And if I did, I wouldn't be bragging about it.

Why are some people here SO stupid?

Yeah that's going to encourage Immigration to drop the drug tests as ATEK is trying to get them to do... Rolling Eyes

There's actually a bunch of illegal drugs floating around? I wouldn't think much of that is going on in Korea, but I could be wrong. It's not like SE Asia, America, and Europe where you don't even have to look for illegal drugs to find out about them and who sells them. Wrong or not, I'm not going to do anything in Korea, becuase everyone knows your business and people will eventually find out every dealing, legal or illegal, you're getting into. This includes finding out when you're sick, what doctor you see, what meds you get put on, what you buy, who you associate with, your relations with others, and how you live. Dont' think your messy apartment will remain a secret for very long. Robot just gots to get his wire cluster funk in order and mop the floor. Wink

Reminds me of a DJ Quik lyric:

"And even though her parents spent a fat chip on the private school tip, she graduated, got some thug d**k and flipped."

Sounds like ol' boy turned her out.

So, not only did this fool needlessly get himself into trouble, he gave up / sold out his girl after she tried to help him....
What a first class scumbag.
