My co-teacher gave me a drink today for my cold. It says 쌍화 on the bottle. I guess there are a bunch of herbs and such in it; I don't know for sure but I do know it tastes pretty awful. The only word in English is "star anise" which would explain the psuedo-licorice stench/taste. She also said there was ginseng in it.

Most pharmacists (at least the ones I've been to) can speak some English. I don't know if mine is a general "sick" drink or just for colds, but they should have something similar for you.

Today, I noticed Theraflu at the pharmacy in the E-mart at Yongsan Station. It's on the bottom floor across from the checkout.

I had a doctor tell me once to go home and drink 2 shots of soju that have had 1/3 of a teaspoon of red pepper flakes added to it..haha.

The tea 쌍화 seems to be a more common approach. The version I have is a tube of powder like the instant coffee..just mix with hot water and drink.

Tastes like crap but I can say it will surely open up clogged sinuses.
