So I guess the stereotype for Koreans towards westerners is that we all do drugs, (amongst other things)?
I am working with a recruiter right now getting things in order to try to get a job in August for a public school.
I have a MSc and would like to be paid more. However, my masters is from the University of Amsterdam...
which is a legit and hard core European school blah blah blah...
will they know Amsterdam, and will it have the same stigma as it does back home, for the drugs? Do you think this will be a problem? I know all schools and directors are different, of course.
but do you think my MSc will bring me further stigma as a drug crazed westerner? |

The fact that it is not from an approved list of countries will make more of a difference. |

I was told that because my BA is from the US, my masters, being taught in English, would count even though its from Holland. Each director is different, but I'll weed it out and find someone who will pay more.
no? |

You can't make this stuff up, folks!
Some employers will happily accept postgrad degrees from outside the English-speaking world. UofA is a very good uni, so if they don't take it, find someone who will. |

Nearly all of us are university graduates. In universities in pretty well every country except Korea, people do drugs. That's half the point of going to university. I'd be surprised if there were more than two people on this forum who've never tried marijuana before. It's not a big deal, but it seems like it if you've never been exposed to it before, such as most Koreans.
And how do you spell Zach without a Z? |

Everyone except Muslims are doing drugs as alcohol is a drug unless some Muslims sneak around which is human nature. Korean alcohol has special qualities to it that make you get drunk really fast and then have worse hangover than you'd get from most alchoholic beverages. Must have some sort of chemicals to make the alcohol go to your brain really quick. It's designed for 1.5 hour dinner parties; not all nighters like westerners do. You can drink 3 shots of 11% Korean alcohol and feel a real head buzz with the hangover starting 1 hour after you stop drinking it, but yet drink a 12 pack of western beer in a night and not get so buzzed drunk. |

Except that Muslims DO use drugs.

Zach, the Korean government requires your BA, BS, etc. be from an approved country like the US. Your MA, MS, etc. can be from anywhere. You don't need to submit your MA to immigration.
It you have an MA, why are you going to hogwan jobs? Unless they pay very, very well, of course, and are reputable. |

probably not. my school's english zone has a big poster hanging of a place in amsterdam, with amsterdam written in large letters on it. i chuckled when i saw it, but i doubt anyone else got the joke. |

Well, I haven't done marijuana before, anyone else? I bet there are far more than two people who haven't bothered with that crap before. |
