I am currently in Korea, but need to get my criminal background documents. I visited publicrecordsinfo.com but there are so many links and the information regarding criminal background checks seemed vague. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

are you from philly or no? if so PM me and I can give you specifics.

State of PA is a snap. You can request a notarized copy in the mail. They will mail it to wherever you want them to mail it. Have them send it to a friend or family member stateside. Have the friend send it to the capitol for the Apostille. Then have it sent to you.

You don't have to be in the states for any of it.

It will vary from state to state but it's unlikely you would have to be present for any of it.

I've heard that online crc's by independent agencies are likely to get turned down.

sorry.

should have mentioned that you would be sending a request to the state police as the first step, and enclosing a money order and a written request to have it notarized, which doesn't cost anything extra.

I sent it away for the Apostille with UPS second day air and got it back in 3 or 4 days.

thanks a lot oak llama.. yeah I am from philly. I haven't written 25 posts yet so I'm not allowed to send PMs, is there any way to get around this?

I found the request form to send to the PA police department for a background check, but just need the specifics for the written request for it to be notarized. thanks again!

word. I'm in West Philly now, working on coming over in August.

this link has the info for requesting the CRC from the PA state police. PATCH is the PA Access To Criminal History.

If you click on the Help tab at the top you can download the request form.

You have to make sure that you submit a written request for a Notarized CRC. It has to be notarized so you can get an apostille.

I sent the CRC request regular mail and got it back in 2 weeks maybe.

This link is for the Apostille request. Your going to be mailing your notarized CRC to Harrisburgh. They will attach a fancy piece of paper to it and mail it back.

I sent mine UPS next day air, i'm not sure why. It cost 24 bucks but I got it back at the end of the week.

Also, I had my Diploma photocopied by a notary, and the copy was notarized. I sent that along with my CRC to get both done at once. Those are the only two docs you need an Apostille on. it's cost 15.00 per document. not terrible.

So if you're in Korea you would need someone over here to drop stuff in the mail for you and get the ball rolling.

Oh,

All I did for the written request was write on a piece of notebook paper : "I am writing to request that you please notarize this criminal background check and mail it to the address listed on the form" and then signed it.

I don't think it needs to be signed. Sometimes I just enjoy signing things.

Put that in the mail with the filled out request form and a money order for 10.00.

pretty painless.
