I'd kill most of you for a soft shelled beef taco with sour cream, extra onions, fire sauce, a hard shell chicken taco with sour cream, and a bean burrito with extra sour cream and fire sauce.

You can make all of this at your apt! Go out and buy the ingrediants~ The bext mexican food I have had in this country was made in my apartment. |

There are many places to get Mexican food in Korea, as well as the supplies to make it at home. However, the only Taco Bell in Korea remains in Yongsan Garrison.
April Fool's Day is over, so we might as well let this one drop. |

Where can you get refried beans?, taco seasoning for the beef or chicken? and, taco shells that aren't broken?
I know you can get refried beans at one of the Itaewon grey market stores, but who wants to pay 7500 won a can?
Where can you buy it 100% legally? The Costco I joined didn't carry any items that I really wanted: Mexican food spices, tortilla shells or even good tortilla chips, real DILL pickles, Tide, decent frozen pizza (rising crust), etc....
Every now and then I see "dill" pickles at E-Mart, buy them, take them home, pop one in my mouth and have to puke it out because it's actually a sweet pickle!!!! |

I can picture John's failed attempts at "illegally" buying refried beans in Korea:
John approaches shady looking Nigerian in a Itaewon backalley. . .
John: (whispers) Hey bro, you selling? I've got a serious case of the munchies yo.
Dealer: What are you looking for?
John: I'm thinking about making a burrito or maybe even a tostada.
Dealer: Pinto or black?
John: Pinto and easy on the lard.
Dealer: How do I know you're not a cop? (pulls out a knife)
John: Calm down bro! I'm legit yo!
Dealer: I'm going to open this can and I want to watch you eat some of these beans. That way I know you're not a cop.
John: Well, uh, em, I'm not really into it when it's not heated bro.
Dealer moves in menacingly.
John: Alright, I'll hit it yo! |

funny, but I do not care if the refried beans are from the base; I just hate to pay 7500 won for a 750 won can of refried beans.
Plus, I don't live in Seoul, so it would be nice to get them from a chain store that imports tons of the product and charges a reasonable amount. Double price would be normal. 10X is stupid.
grey market is not black market drugs. Legal, instead of grey market in food purchase would mean cost saving for the consumer. Other areas, like video pirating and chinese mp3 player knock offs, grey market benfits the consumer and I'm for it. Personally, don't wanna pay 10X for a can of beans.
I guess, if I had the time, inclination, feminine traits, etc., I could 'make me own' refried beans, salsa, etc., but me ti-ts havn't grown to those proportions yet and I'm too lazy, but too busy (go figure). |
