It's getting to the point where Americans need to smuggle legally earned money to keep from being detained and harrassed for obeying the law.

I've flown in and out of STL many times and they're real jerks there. Definitely not traverler friendly folks. I'm talking about TSA, police, customer service, and other services staff at the airport and local area. The local restaurants and hotels are less than traveler friendly as morale is lowest as it can go. I went to college near STL airport at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and it's all too familiar with how backward many people in charge act around there. One time, on my way to Germany for the US Army, I had a geode the size of a pool ball in my carryon and they had to break it open to see if it had drugs in it as it cam up as having a black center on Xray. Sad They called it a, "Juggernaut," and then gave me some broken peices of the amethyst geode after finding it was clean. Another time, I accidently smuggled marry J cigarettes where I had 2 cigarette packs and thought I'd thrown away the one with illegal kind of cigarettes to find I made to Germany with no problems and not knowing I was breaking the law!! LMAO! I even put this cigarette pack with joints in it in the bin and ran it through X ray machines in STL and Detroit! Wew! Never do that again. Lucky I didn't get caught, but it was an honest mistake as I wasn't intending to smuggle. And yes, I carried thousands of dollars on me. In my 20's, I'd carry $3000 to $5000 just to feel secure at all times, but don't do that today. I was dumb then.

It's legit to be searched for drugs, becuase a large amount of cash suggests drug dealing, but it can also be an innocent law abiding individual who no longer trusts the banks and making a move to someplace else where he might find a job. You know in St. Louis, the job market is aweful just like in Detroit. Unemployment and crime is very high. I'd run with a pocket of money the fullest I could make it if in STL too; not walk. It's not a pleasant place to even fly in and out of.

I was just talking with my brother in law on the phone yesterday evening and he said, "Don't ever fly in or out of STL as I won't come to pick you up nor take you, but you use KCI instead." Why, I asked, "people aren't friendly are ass backwards down there," he said. "OK, will fly KCI from now on," I said. He'd been picking me and dropping me off at STL over the years every time I come and go.

The host of this program is a retired US Federal Judge. He said the cops were wrong and had no authority to detain this person.

Since he was held for 25 minutes and was not free to go, he was legally arrested. Since he had committed no crime, and there was no reason to legally detain or arrest this person, he should sue the cops for false arrest. An FBI agent, plainclothes, told the evil fascist pigs to let the innocent man go.

The COPS in this case should be arrested and go to jail for a minmum of 5 years. Behavior like this is an evil form of government terror over its citizens. These cops and their equivalent all over America are pigs and much more dangerous than Bin Laden or Al Qaeda is, was or ever will be.

Cops who violate the civil liberties of American citizens must be prosecuted and imprisoned.

I'm no Korean apologist, but what I see going down in the U.S. over the last couple decades has me very uncomfortable about considering a return from the Hangook to that joint. I love my country and (many of) the people there, but it really looks like it's turning into a tough place to live.

Tell the cops the truth. Be polite. 40 seconds later be on your way.

Alternatively, be silly and difficult, and let them hold you for a few hours. Then sue them for illegal arrest and detention. Good luck.

Don't get me wrong - the dude did nothing wrong. But he was purposefully being a smartass and looking for trouble. I've got more important things to do.

Actually, for someone being illegally detained, I found him to be relatively polite.

There's no guarantee of that. In fact, you may be on your way - to jail.

Many of you enjoy rights which only very few have the courage to stand up for. If no one stood up to them, they'd be doing it to everybody.

You could at least be appreciative.

I think he was being extremely polite. The TSA used foul language, didn't know Mr. Bierfeldt's rights and refused to inform him of his rights when he asked. He maintained his cool throughout and was even gracious when the ordeal was finished. It sounded like he even made his flight on time, even though he spent the greater part of a half hour doing his part to keep America free.

This is what legal experts say to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8z7NC5sgik&feature=related

Too many cops do this: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-texas-profiling11-2009mar11,0,507135.story

You sound like one of those protestors in Oakland a fews days ago who were angry over the way the Black cop killer was depicted in the local media.

Really, with your complete lack of sense of proportionality, you should be joining the anarchists at their little G20 Summit party in downtown London.

Go for it, dude.

Judging by your avatar and comments, you must have been overexposed to nuclear radiation at some point. You have my sympathies. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, right I do. I guess you should thank me for making you feel better about yourself. I bet you're the best lover you ever had.
