I have a friend who's looking to come to Korea to teach French. I told her I'd help find her a job or at least point her in the right direction, but have no idea where to look for French teaching jobs.

She's from France and would fit all the E2 requirements (replacing anything that says English with French, of course). She has a masters, so maybe there'd be a possibility of a uni gig? Anyone know of any French language hagwons or schools that might be able to hire her?

I know it's not as easy as finding English teaching jobs, but any help/advice would be very appreciated.

Also, I know this only makes it harder, but because of swing dance related reasons, jobs/schools in Seoul are preferred.

I've only met one person teaching French in Korea. He was a qualified professor (not just a bachelors), and taught military (Army Intel School) officers who were going to study in France.

you could try one of the Uni's in particular Hankuk University Of Foreign Studies but if she has no teaching experience it might be difficult

For hagwons? there must be a few dotted around. Try this group. There is someone who posted on there who knows someone who is looking for french teachers

Also try Foreign Language High Schools. I have been at mine (not in Seoul) for almost 7 years and French is one of the languages taught. My school has had to work with the uni in Gwangju to get a French native speaker to come once a week.....

I teach English speaking HS students at Sunday school. Three of them go to a pretty big all French school in Seoul. All subjects taught in French.
Would this be something of interest?, I can get the name.

With the MA, especially if your friend has some teaching experience, a university position might be in the stars. Most of the bigger universities in Seoul have French programs. Have your friend look for listings on individual university web sites and check out the Chronicle of Higher Education's job postings once in a while. I only know one university French teacher here, and she is way qualified (MA and a specialty in teaching French as a foreign language).

What about the Lycee Francais in Seoul?

I taught 2 years at the Lycee Francais in DC. This school followed the French school calendar and the classes (CP to terminale) are structured according to their system.

I remember being told that all of the abroad Lycees are run somewhat uniformly-- they even order that four-hole looseleaf paper with the blocked lines from France for the students.
