Does anybody know of anywhere offering Korean classes on weekday evenings in the Seoul/Anyang/Suwon/Ansan areas(I'm in Sanbon)? I've seen plenty of courses offered in the mornings and weekends, but not in the evenings. I'm not looking for anything hugely intensive, I just want to make my day to day life easier. I already tried ganada, but they're not offering evening classes at the moment.
I've tried language exchange and self study, but what I really want is a proper teacher and a class to interact with. |

Yonsei University has a Korean language institute. It's located in Sinchon but I think it's too late to sign up for classes this quarter. |

This place, close to Gangnam Stn, has some eve classes. It says you have to start on the 1st of the month, but it's a small place and they're pretty flexible; people often start after the 1st. They are pretty nice there, I enjoyed their classes. |

The Korean Foundation Cultural Center near City Hall offers free evening Korean classes once a week.
I think the Seoul Global Center does as well. |

Hey Lynns, how did you find the course at the Gangnam language academy? I have been thinking about signing up, did the level test and bought the course books but was a little concerned at how formal the language was. Do they use more conversational Korean in the actual classroom?
Is it a completely Korean environment or are they able to handle classroom questions in English?

Snowflake, I am referring to Korean Language Academy, is that the one you mean?
They use the Ganada textbook. I didn't take level 1 there, but if the first book begins (as many Korean textbooks do) with the -ibnida verb ending, then maybe everyone uses that one in the classroom at first if it's the only one they know, but soon enough the text will introduce other endings and different politeness levels, and they'll all be used appropriately in the classroom. Look through the textbook and you'll see when they introduce other types of verb endings.
The whole class is in Korean. Most of the students don't speak English and many of the teachers probably don't speak it well, either. |
