I have about five different recruiters placing me in schools in Korea. What happens if there is overlap? -- for example, two of my recruiters place teachers in the SMOE. Should I only have one recruiter send it to SMOE, or should I have the other one as well to increase my chances of being placed?

I understand from the recruiter's perspective that they only prefer English teachers to do it through ONE recruiter. However, I want to increase my chances of not only being placed in Korea, but also choose the best offer by receiving multiple offers.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance,

Sounds like a double standard. Recruiters get to double up on schools, but teachers can't? I wouldn't worry when there is more need for teachers than teachers needing a school.

I used like 5 as well. I used 5 and wrote what I wanted very clearly and specifically. Let em loose and see who comes back with what you want.

I just read another thread where someone said SMOE rejects multiple applications. I had two different recruiters send in my application to SMOE.

What does this mean? That SMOE would reject me altogether simply because I submitted my application to them twice?

I'm looking to start in late August when the public schools in Seoul start up again. I'm guessing they are in the middle of reviewing my application and looking to set up an interview. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I asked the same question to my recruiter and he explained it to me like this:

If the SMOE gets more than one applicaiton submitted on your behalf, it will be held against you. I don't know exactly what 'held against you' can mean...maybe rejection, maybe they would just be scowling as they read it and deface the picture that you attached.

EPIK on the other hand, if they receive multiple applications on your behalf, they will simply accept the first one and ignore the rest. So nothing will be held against you, but there's no real advantage either.

So perhaps the best thing to do would be to find a recruiter that you like, or one that you trust to submit the correct paperwork for you, and stick with them to apply for the public school programs.
