Okay....be honest with me. Here's the deal......
I'm looking at moving (back) to Asia this summer. I'm looking for ADULT teaching gigs - hopefully corporate - in the Seoul area. I'm actually looking at various cities in Asia but Seoul is right up there.
I have nine years of corporate/adult ESL experience in Japan and Myanmar but none in Korea.
So my question is....what are the odds of finding something decent in the Seoul area that a) doesn't involve split shifts and B) does not include teaching youngsters?
Can anyone recommend a good recruiter for this...or do I even need one?
An ex-Korea teacher here in the States told me to start looking at major corporations like Samsung but I'm assuming every ESL teacher and his dog is lapping up at those gigs.

About 2%.
Seriously. Try the adult hagwons like YBM and Pagoda. That will involve splits though.
Jobs at companies are easy to get (at least part time) if you have a marriage or a Gyopo visa. Otherwise you really need to hit the proverbial needle in a haystack. |

| Wall Street--adults-only and no split shifts. People laugh and joke about them but it's a good place to work and the job is highly satisfying. Don't know if they're hiring full-timers right now though. |

| Moving here and hitting up jobs would probaly be your best bet.....The best gigs and money I've found were just from talking with with people and friends passing them on to you....same for great paying privates and other types of jobs. |

| If you have your MA, go for a university job and then fish around for corporate gigs on the side. Always an option. |

last I heard WSI were in a bit of trouble and teachers were losing jobs. Are you currently working there just out of interest?
I suppose the only other adult teaching jobs are with WSI, YBM and Pagoda. I'd be a bit wary. Have a look at this recent thread.

There are good corpoarte jobs here if you can find them. Most people that I know make more than 4 million a month. You will need at least an MBA with your experience. You should also have a background in actual business and not just EFL.
Check with some of the major automobile industries. Any of the international companies.
You will definately have to do a lot of footwork to get these kind of jobs.
Don't work for any of the academies that people mentioned. If you want corporate work don't work for hagwons. Why get paid less than 3 million for that kind of work. If you aren't qualified and don't have an option, then those jobs are good. No need to be a slave.
Don't expect anyone to help you get those high paying jobs though. You will have to do it on your own entirely.

With Wall Street you could work part time (3 hours/day) and they will sponsor you to work at other jobs. Plus they throw private one-to-one classes your way every now and then (granted the pay isn't very competitive, but still...). The only teachers here who make less than 3 million / month are the full-timers. I know several making 5+ by combining WSI with an afterschool job or by teaching businesspeople, doctors, etc.
You could definitely make more money elsewhere but if you're just getting your start in Korea, you could do a lot worse.
btw, I currently work for WSI and couldn't be happier. |

| what's the pay like for part time at WSI? I did a search on some older threads and I've seen 25k per hour mentioned.....2 year old threads though so not sure if things have changed. |

WSI will not give you paid vacation unless you work there for 2 years. After one year you can take a vacation but won't get paid for it(like the contract says) until working there for 2 years. Isn't that just swell?
Are you, and/or other WSI employees going to pay your "Independent Contractor" taxes for working at the Public School after-school program? |

| So you have a choice, make the regular 2.1-2.4 and have a vacation or work your ass off, without a vacation, but make money. There really arent many options that offer both. The last time I had an actual vacation (2 weeks off with no work) was 3 years ago. BMB, you hate F visa holders who make the kind of money you wish you were making but you fail t grasp that these people are working harder than you would ever be willing to work. |

I make 3.1 a month and have 2+ months of vacation a year....You can make lots of money and get lots of vacation if you play your cards right... |
