I suppose I could go down the street to Sinchon, but I'd prefer to go to a closer neighborhood bar if there is one...

I lived there for a couple years and my friends and I always went to Shinchon. I still know a couple people who live there and they too go to Shinchon. It's only a 15 minute walk to Mike's Cabin...

Spent two years in Yeonhee-dong. No reason not to jump on the 7612 to Hongdae or the 3/4/153 to Sinchon. Most of the whities in that neighborhood are families/teachers at SFS or a few hagwon teachers. Definitely not enough of them for there to be a "local watering hole."

... went over to Mike's Cabin last night, it was pretty dead though, just me + 1 there, maybe because it was a Tuesday night...

Thanks for the bus numbers, I haven't figured which goes where yet, as I just walk to classes. Any other handy #'s?

For Sinchon, did you mean 3/4153 as in 3153 and 4153?

Is Yeonee-dong the neighborhood where Chun Doo Hwan, supposedly the most hated man in Korea, lives? I'd like to check out the area if it is.

It's possible. I remember when I first started working there the director pointed out that a former president lived in the neighborhood.

He's a former military dictator/president of Korea. He was responsible for the 1980 Gwangju massacre.

I used to live in Yeonhee-dong. It's a fairly quiet neighborhood even though it's just across the main drag from Hongdae (I left because the parking situation sucked).

Anyway, I also used to go to Shinchon on the occasions I went out close to home. Mike's Cabin is okay on certain nights, and The Bar can be fun (cheap booze, music's okay, usually some cool people there, etc).
