I wondered the same thing about Ullungdo, a fantasy I've entertained (I like islands).

Yeh & clothes dry real quick on the clothesrack these days or bedding draped over a door & it adds some welcome moisture to the air for sleeping too. Koreans moisten a towel & hang it on the bedroom doorknob at bedtime to the same end. (I've got a humidifier but I'm suspicious of the cool damp it puts out.)

Re: doing laundry stretching your clothes, use AGITATOR BALLS! Cheap plastic throw-ins available in any supermarket that effectively double or triple the life of your clothes.

I got some twine type stuff and strung it all across my bathroom. It dries the clothes, then I take a shower and they get steam ironed, then let them dry overnight again... ready to wear the next day.

My bathroom is fully a third of the space in my apartment. It all evens out. It's maybe 6' across by 7' long.

I hang my clothes on the rack before going to bed and turn on and face the fan towards the rack. By morning my clothes are dry and wrinkle free.

I of course risk being a victim of the fan man.

The ROK Marine Corps has a small garrison there to protect the island from NK infiltrators. I was a liason between their scout snipers and a mobile training unit from the US Army Infantry School at Ft. Benning, Georgia. The MTU came to Korea in order to share their skills with several different ROK military units. I became involved because I used to be stationed in Korea in a combined US/ROK Infantry unit. In addition, one of my friends was an instructor at the Ft. Benning sniper school. He contacted me prior to his teams deployment to Korea and he was able to get me assigned to help them. Also, I went there during Chusok one time and swam in the warm water with a beautiful blond Norwegian girl.

Parts of this story are true, and other parts are fiction. Who can tell the difference?
