A friend of mine is talking to a kindy hagwon about possibly working a year.
They're telling him something about kindy hagwon not being allowed to hire English teachers, thus not allowing him to get a visa.
Is there any truth to this?
Help is appreciated. |

Regular Korean kindies are supposedly unable to hire foreigners. (Which is a pity as that was my job at one point in Japan, it rocks!).
Any hogwon, regardless of student age group can hire, presuming they meet the rules re student numbers etc.
Sounds odd that they are saying this during hiring! |

It would depend on their registration.
If they are registered as an English hagwon then they can. As a regular kindergarten, probably not. |

I worked for a kindi hakwon. Well... preschool / kindy
It was a chain. There were 9 foreign teachers at my place, and another 30 at other schooles.

It would depend on their registration.
If they are registered as an English hagwon then they can. As a regular kindergarten, probably not. |

I once worked at an afternoon 학원 in which the director sent me out to kindergartens in the area.
I included contact information from those kindergartens on my resume.
The immigration office told me that I should erase that information or I could get in trouble. |

You can only work legally at the address on your ARC.
You were working illegally. Immigration could have busted, fined and deported you based on your own confession in your resume.
You were lucky.
Other teachers have been busted based on their own resumes. |

What in God's name (Happy Easter) is the point of writing "hagwon" in hangul? |
