|
|
I am thinking about applying to EPIK or SMOE and I am wondering if I would have any problems if I had to bring my dog with me. I was planning on leaving her here but that might not be possible. Has anyone brought a dog with them when signing on with EPIK or SMOE? I am just worried that they won't have any apartments that accept pets or that I will be told it's ok and then get all the way there and-Suprise!-No pets allowed. |

I'm with SMOE, it depends on the apt, but in my officetel they allow pets (same as back home, for an extra fee).
Just tell your recruitor that is non-negotiable and they'll find you a place. |

Be careful about that! In September of 2008 (I think) there was a person who had requested to be placed somewhere where the landlord was cool with pets, and SMOE failed to comply.
Your recruiter saying it's ok doesn't mean it's going to happen. The only way to guarantee that it won't be a problem is to find a place of your own. |

There are two people who were placed in Gangwondo this February who had big dogs, and they've both been allowed to stay, but it took some work on the part of the school and the coordinator to find apartments for them. I'm sure it won't be a problem but be upfront about it from the get-go and make sure that EPIK/SMOE know about it well in advance, not just your recruiter. I'd put a note in your application package that you mail to Korea, if possible. |

I have a dog, too, it's a small dog (only about 10 pounds) but he can be loud, barking when outsiders are around the door. I was trying to decide on whether to bring him or not. I may ask my recruiter and then EPIK, but there will be a week of orientation, and it may be likely that housing will have to be found for the pet during that time. Right? |
