Just wondering if there are any groups of foreigners over 30 that get together on a regular basis in any of the larger cities in Korea. I'm thinking about moving back and I would like to meet people closer to my age.

I got an email about one a couple months ago in Gangwondo, which I'm not in as I'm not quite eligible. I can PM you details if you like.

very Korean like -

hanging out with people "your age".

I just hang out with cool people - once you're a semi responsible adult, age means nothing.

of more relevance is "place in life".

for e.g. married people with children. Most people my age are married with children. Am I going to hang out with them to hear how little Tommy was soooo.. cute playing a tree in the school play?

phuck no.

Check out these groups...they aren't so much focused on age, more on interest.

1...2...3...ok

I am asking because I generally have more in common and share interests with people who are closer to my age. When I was in Korea last time, I had friends of all different ages. However, I found that I spent the most time with people who were closer to my age level emotionally, psychologically, mentally - however you want to put it. I don't mean that to insult anyone. I am simply saying that someone who is 22 and straight out of uni and enjoys spending every weekend in a bar is not going to be in the same place as someone who is 32 and more settled. It has nothing to do with being Korean or any other nationality. Am I ruling out being friends with people in their 20s? NO. Am I ruling out going out for drinks and having a good time sometimes? NO. Am I ruling out spending time with people who try to sound condescending to other people and end up coming across as a jacka$$? YES.

I have found that it is very easy to go out on a Friday night and meet tons of people in their 20s. In my experience, it is not so easy to meet people over 30. That is the point of my question.

The entire population of the Seoul Pub, Nashville, or 3 Alley Pub on any given afternoon or evening should fit the bill.

i was just messing with you a bit.

but interests aren't necessarily age related though for you they may be.
For me, they're not.

My interests are far more in line with say my 3rd year high school boys than their adjosshi fathers and my male co-teachers who are close to me in age.
