my friends back in south korea are unable to do any youtube uploading or commenting, etc. due to that korean law where you have to input your national ID number:

google apparently didn't want to cave to the SK government, so they just disabled it for the whole country.

friends of mine have tried changing their country preferences and posting behind proxy IP addresses, but i am unsure of their progress... i'm curious to see how effective this is.

I was able to edit one of my video's information today.

Change your country pref. Top left next to the youtube logo it probably has "South Korea" written. Click and you get an option to change. When I did it earlier this week it sent me an email with a link that I had to follow.

Then when I tried to comment, it made me do something else, and I lost my comment, so then I had to write it again. Lesson: copy what you wrote before you click on any buttons after submitting to avoid having to write it again. Eventually I was able to comment as usual.

I always just change my IP address.. so my IP address is an anonymous European/Canadian/American IP address..

buy a program, subscribe or sign up and run through a different IP address each day from a western country...

This really should be in the Technology forum - but I will say it anyway..

To get an anonymous (non-Korean IP address) for everything that you do on the internet (email, messenger, skype, u-tube etc).....

TORS - will protect your IP (with a fake IP) but your internet
service will become very very slow

anonymizer is great for encrypted (different IP address) - but its expensive and only for web-surfing - not for programs..

I recommend subscribing to and using a VPN -

computer users to access a network via an IP address other than the
one that actually connects their computer to the Internet.

VPN's give you a fake IP address ALWAYS. However - you should
never use a free VPN service - because the owners collect
information about what sites you visit.

VPN services that you pay for - do not collect any info about you
and always give you fake encrypted IP addresses for everything that
you do on the internet - and yet your internet download/upload
speed remains fast.

Now - there is a new VPN service about to start this month - and it
is called "Ipredator.se" from Brokep (the owners of "Pirate bay")
and they are not expensive.

I definitely trust the piratebay guys - so any service they offer
is worth looking into.

the nice thing is that the piratebay is *exactly* the sort of people
who like to "stick it to the man" so if they have a service
available
you _know_ they aren't secretly working for anyone they are doing
it to preserve digital rights and to protect people privacy. They
are all about privacy, freedom of doing what you want on the internet and that sort of thing.

It basically means a FAKE (non-Korean) IP address for everything (including
skype or u-tube) and nobody will ever find out what websites you are viewing. For just USD$80 per year.

I will be getting it as soon as they start (this month or next
month).

I recommend investing into it. Download priated movies, use skype, view anything on u-tube, visit North Koreans websites, etc etc - without KT or C&M (or your internet provider) knowing what you are looking at or blocking sites that South-Korea doesn't want you to see...

The only thing that your internet provider sees is that you have an encrypted-connection to your VPN provider - that don't get to see anything else...
