Hey,
Basically I arrived in Korea three weeks ago, am loving the country and have met heaps of awesome people but my job situation leaves a lot to be desired and I do not think I can stick it out for a year - in fact, I have friends teaching in Korea who are telling me to get out of it ASAP. I arrived here and found out that the teacher I was replacing had been fired after five months, not due to incompetence or misconduct, but because "her personality was not right for the job"! I was not told I was replacing someone who was fired prior to the contract, and as this is my first time in Korea, the possibility didn't really occur to me.

That aside, the hours I am working are different to those advertised and they have added all this stuff to my schedule for me to do in the mornings when I do not have classes, such as observing and doing prep for the other teachers. my boss has repeatedly told me that she has very high expectations for me, and has taken to observing practically every class that I teach. She has also on occasion had a go at me in front of the students and asked when if I have covered the material that I was asked to teach!! Furthermore, last week my recruiter sent me an email saying that the school had been complaining about me to him, and thought I was only in Korea to have fun and party! (if I wanted to party I could've done that in my home country...). The day after that my boss basically went nuts at me both in class and in the teachers room after because I had fallen behind in a lesson.

I've had enough of these work conditions already and am looking into getting a new job after I get my first paycheck (three weeks) - was looking for advice as to the best way to go about switching employers as I understand this can be quite difficult on an E2 visa??
