I think I left my cell phone in a taxi Saturday and I realize the chances of recovering it are slim to none.

Does anyone know if I can cancel my USIM card without cancelling my contract? That would mean tying my phone number to a new USIM card, which I assume they can do, but I'm not positive. Has anyone been in this situation? I'm on contract with KTF, btw.

When I lost my phone, I simply called my own number. A Korean man answered it, and I arranged to go meet him. He came to the location, and he gave it back. He refused any kind of reward or token of appreciation. It had slipped out of my pocket on the bus.

I lost my wallet in Busan for all of five minutes (this is OT, but I'm bumping the thread so it's okay), when this next Korean guy comes out of nowhere looking at my ARC and looking at me. I took ALL the cash out of my wallet and tried to give it to him, he refused it.

For me, that means the locals will do one of two things: Ignore the problem, or solve the problem. There is no "get involved" here. There is "It's not my problem" and there is "I will solve this problem."

Have your boss call the phone. Odds are, it's at the taxi company somewhere.

UPDATE:

Good news! *crosses fingers*

so I guess the taxi driver called one of my students (how he found her phone number and why it was in my phone I have no idea, certainly not in my phonebook so I'm wondering how he got it). Anyway, I had that class today and she asked why I called her. She then said someone called her and started to talk then just hung up. She called them back but he told her not to prank call again (?). So I had her call that number back today and the guy said it's at Seoul Station. I had one of my co-teachers call but no one picked up. They're gonna call back tomorrow and then hopefully I can go retrieve my phone.
