I did a couple of searches on this topic, got some pretty informative stuff, but I just wanted to confirm the comparisons with Korean women vs American women.

1. It's less of a headache to ask out a woman.
2. No "Walls" get thrown up if you attempt to get to know them?
3. No games hardly at all.

So basically, you can have fun dating in Korea, but without the stress and hassle of the games?

Just wonderin' Smile

Haha are you kidding?

If you like whiny, materialistic princesses then sure, K-Women are a blast. The hookers are cheaper and less hassle IMO.

I would say all of that depends on the type of person you are. If you were quite successful dating at home, you should have no problems in Korea meeting women.

If you were not successful at home, you are still likely to be successful in meeting women here.

1. It's less of a headache to ask out a woman. - If by this you mean that Korean women may not quite as trigger-happy to shoot you down in flames if you approach them and begin talking to them, this may be true. However cultural differences simply lead to a "different" kind of headache.
Even if a woman is not interested she will likely still give you her number, though she may never respond to your contacts.

2. No "Walls" get thrown up if you attempt to get to know them? - This depends on the type of woman and the type of man. Again, it's just a "different" kind of ballgame, not necessarily an easier one.

3. No games hardly at all. - Depends on the people involved. People all over the world play games if that is their personality, no matter their heritage.

My best advice would be to approach the situation without any preconceptions. Things that are very easily attained with no effort are typically not very worthwhile.

Here's my deal: Been here 2 years. Dated youngsters and more mature ladies. Young ones: more head games and gifts required as well as faithfulness issues. Mature ones: no games, they know what they want, usually have more $, not likely to cheat because, as we all know, woman over 30 are "old maids" here. I'm so glad K-guys think that way. Don't be fooled by the "new car" smell. Sometimes an old pair of jeans are just fine.

Maybe you're a young fella, but if you're an over 30's crusty, don't expect the older gals to be mature. I dated a woman well into her 30's that had "pretty girl" labeled on her mobile and when I pointed to it she said "I am a pretty girl"...get the picture? Also, over 30's have given up on K men and are having to resort to a whitey for the ring on the finger.

Younger girls will cost you money in general, they expect you to pay for the privilege of being with them but in general, they are nicer, more feminine and less aggressive than Western women who seem to have grown balls in this day and age.

Even if she's not interested she'll give you her number, and not return your calls......

That's familiar Western women behavior.

Someone here mentioned something about if you have money, women of Korea will like you more? Sounds like most American women behavior as well. lol

Oh, is it true, women in Korea aren't so hung up on looks/physical appearances as Western women are? For once, I'd like to date a woman that didn't have a "Must be 6 feet tall or taller" or "Must have a full head of hair" requirement. lol

So - let me get this straight - you want a woman whose not hung up on looks or height and of course not materialistic - and you expect to find her here?

I don't think so - I don't know a nationality more hung up on how someone looks than the Koreans, and how many male western teachers not only want beautiful girls to date but they want the '10s' despite not knowing the language (the biggest drawback in my opinion to success or failure) or making any effort in grooming, weight loss or hygiene.

I think shaving, bathing, getting a nice haircut, taking an interest in what clothes suit you and the gym and most importantly LEARNING KOREAN will go a long way in getting yourself a nice Korean woman.

some korean women seem obsessed with appearance. i've had some girls talk about ridiculous amounts of surgey they want, or go on and on about how they hate their friend because they've got bigger eyes/whiter skin etc. it's a whole different level of vanity here. must be what it's like to live in hollywood haha. But, you do see a lot of korean girls with fairly ugly guys (korean or western). The key is grooming and wearing nice clothes.....that and having money and power. oh and speaking the language will certainly broaden your options. But how many people are gonna learn conversational korean in the time they spend here???

You don't need to be conversational....a few words here or there goes a long way....It at least shows your interested in the culture or learning her language....They can likely understand some of your English...some korean will fill the gaps...

Wow....all I can say that THIS is a wake up call

I have no problem with grooming or keeping myself clean at all. ( I guess even in a country that doesn't believe in deodorant as ironic as that seems, from what I've been reading on the boards, lol)

Well, this IS a shocker. I guess the "average Joe" doesn't stand a chance in Korea either? LOL

Are these Korean women just as shallow as their western counterparts, eh?

I guess the whole finding a sweet asian woman who will like you for you and not what you can give them has leaked it's way from the Western to the Asian countries as well?\

Now, I don't expect a 10 either, but....I don't know the responses here I'm seeing are quite surprising. lol

Quote:

Not sure what you mean by this.??

I am no David Beckham when it comes to looks, I consider myself average to above average looking.

So even some Korean women won't date a 5'8" guy? LOL

And for the whole "Money and Power", that's kind of a shocker too, I guess Korean women consider men in the ESL profession big money makers?

You would be suprised how many scruffy, unkempt teachers live and work here - far too many - a lot of them seem never to have seen a razor or some shampoo in their lives so though I apologize for pointing out what seems the obvious - its not that obvious if you come here and work and see your fellow countrymen.

Another factor is location - living in Seoul is far preferable to living out on the wop-wops as far as dating is concerned - a lot of Korea is still very traditional and though you may get a more 'tradtional Korea' experience if you live in a rural area - you won't be finding luuuuurve!!!

As papa smurf rightly said - you seem some right ugly bastards with some beautiful women, but the ugly bastards concerned tend to be Korean - I think learning Korean is the key though and that will seperate yourself from 90% of the other male teachers here. If you have other factors like looks, money, stature - then of course that is all re-inforced.

True, I suppose learning the language does help and probably would help in most countries to overcome that communication barrier. I know it impresses the heck out of foreign peoples both male and female alike no matter what country you are in.

Hm, thanks or the input on what the other ESL teachers look like......that's interesting to know. I am a clean cut guy, 5'8", 162 lbs....but I wouldn't consider myself a "hunk" of a man either. lol

All I want is loyalty, a nice girl that I can get along with, not really asking for much actually. Someone who reciprocates in a relationship. I'm somewhat old fashioned and I still believe in chivalry and would like a woman that would appreciate that. Dating in the states has become quite difficult with all the head games and their unrealistic expectations.
