Decent is a pretty subjective term.
The kit lens can take better pictures than an older MF prime (especially at the 18mm end). And the kit lens allows you to zoom (90,000-150,000W brand new).
Golem's price range is correct. A 17mm lens will run you from 180-250,000W. That's about as wide as you can go and not have something long and expensive sticking out of a D40 body.
To go wide with a prime on a DX body you'll need 20mm and below (all pretty pricey), and if you want to cover other focal lengths be prepared to pay more.
Don't forget a D40 won't AF older AF lenses; it's all MF, so that's why I'm suggesting MF lenses. There are HSM/AF-S lenses, but they can range from cheap to extremely expensive.
If you don't know much about photography, try out one of the kit lenses. Someone on here was selling an 18-55VR lens not too long ago. |

It means the message gets "bumped" back to the top of the lists. If there's little interest or too many new messages in a short period of time a seller will "bump" the message back up to the top of the list to remind people of the sale.

If you are looking for inexpensive lenses ..
1. Nikon 18-55mm VR - 110,000
2. Nikon 55-200mm VR - 250,000
(I am not selling them, just posting prices you can buy them for)

Where can you get the Nikon 18-200VR for 250,000? Do you actually mean the 55-200mm?

Yes, you are correct (misprint), my mistake.. lol. I wish the 18-200VR was 250,000
ps. I think your selling price is fine. I wouldn't lower too much for these scavengers. |
