For those that have gone through this and have completed the
Declaration in lieu of guarantor form.

What is on it ?

I know the sworn statement is done, but is that it ?

Do I need information for 2 more people to verify my identity
in additon tio the two already provided in the application form ?
4 total

The Embassy number is for a computer to slowly explain
what I already know.

Thanks

It's a big 'pain-in-the-ass' form. If I remember correctly (from last October), as well as filling out all your person information again, you need your old home addresses and all your emplorers' addresses/phone numbers for the last five years; as well as the names, addresses and phone numbers of two references (in addition to those on the application) who have known you for at least two years.

Don't forget the W172,500 either! Rolling Eyes

buddha's sweaty balls, are you serious ?

Can the gaurantor be a korean doctor? The last doctor i saw
was the guy in Itaewon at the international clinic, which I think was
about two years ago....

Yes, a K doctor can act as your guarantor.

I've done this a few times. I put one employer/school address/number and one home address for past 5 years. I'm sure I made half of it up. The people who've known you for 2 years or more, same thing, doesn't matter, could be old friends you haven't seen in years. You reckon they go through the hassle of verifying everything? In my case they sure didn't. I think they just want something on file as a formality.

well thanks for the input. Can't remember if it has been 1 year and a half or 2 with the doctor....

lol...I will keep it honest on the application, just in case.

Sure is expensive though

I did this earlier this year.

If you're doing it without a guarantor, it doesnt matter if your references are doctors or Joe Shmo. Just people they can ostensibly phone & confirm you are who you say you are. I doubt they ever actually phone.

You show up & present the form you downloaded from the embassy website along with the required documents. They give you an additional form which requires the same information again plus two more references. I just pulled up a couple friends off my cellphone -- you dont need exact addresses, just general locations & phone numbers.

They're basically trying to sniff out weirdos. Hint: dont act weird. Its pretty straightforward.

lol, fair enough, surpress the nervous ticks....

thanks for the replies

Ah, one more thing, is there a photoshop near the Canadian
embassy ? And have you had a problem with the photoshopped
pictures that you get here?

Granted, I do look rather dapper in the brushed pics, but will
they fly with the embassy ?

The embassy is ultra-picky about photos. Is Canada the only country that doesnt allow you to smile in passport photos?

I went to the photo shop recommended on the embassy website (theres a map, its just a block or so away) & they were pleasant to deal with.

good to know, I will go there tomorrow.

Yah, the no smile thing really bugs me.

The last time I got the photos done I was in Canada
and the photograher was getting a little pi**ed because
i wanted to re-take the photos. If I don't smile, my face
in photos is 100 % scowl. I just can't help it, lol ....
