When I did my state cbc it showed was completely clean. But in the interest of time I am checking out doing a local background check which would show one speeding ticket and one no seatbelt ticket. Would these offenses be a big deal when submitting my immigration info? Has any one been denied because of similar offenses?

Thanks all,

BM

I'm not sure where you're located, but a Criminal Background Check usually only shows arrests. Getting a ticket (moving violation) that doesn't include an arrest shouldn't appear. But then again, that's how things work in my home state.

My driving record was not on my CBC, but in the interest of Full Disclosure, I revealed every illegal lane change, speeding, illegal left turn, etc, to the Consular General. At least I started. After the third violation, he asked me if I had done anything that doesn't involve driving a car, and I said no. We moved on with the interview.

In the US does it appear on your record if you were arrested but not charged?

That depends entirely on the Immi officer and the mood he's in. This is K-land... submitting anything 'negative' is only asking for trouble/potentially 'shooting yourself in the foot'. In the interest of expediency, it's not worth taking the chance.

OK thanks guys, kinda what I figured. The lady at the court was an uber b/tch so when I get home I figure I will have a state level one ready to fill out and I'll go do a local, if anything shows on the local Ill do the state. Se La vi. Thanks for the info though.

Ironically, having some sort of moving violation would gain you high praise from the rank and file drivers in Korea..... probably most teachers, I'd imagine.
