The SLPs I know about in other parts of Korea are typical big chain hagwons. You can expect NHI, pay on time and pension (maybe). You can also expect an 8 hour + work day, lots of NET drama and typical hagown BS.

Why not go PS?

Kangnam SLP is a well-established private English school. I used to work there several years ago. I remember the owner, Mr. Lee, as a very intelligent and wise fellow who has decent English. He respects and rewards truly hard work and practical intelligence. He can be ruthless with trouble-makers.

I have heard that in recent years, his school always wins the top places in the annual SLP contest: that is out of over fifty schools. The contest requires essays once the chidlren are ten years old. Kangnam SLP must be doing something right.

Teachers' blacklists are unfortunately useless. I used to read them, but once I got here I knew better. Some people are greedy, lazy or just foolish, and their experience in Korea reflects on them. How does one separate the truth from the lies? <shrugs>
