|

I started a job in mid-August and my contract runs to the end of July (11 months total). My visa expiration date (the exit date on my ARC) is August 11. My next employer would prefer to transfer the visa rather than deal with the expense and bother of a Japan visa run. Question: Given that there are 11 days remaining on my visa, will Immigration look kindly on a transfer or will they tell us to submit new paperwork and go to Japan?
I realize that five Immigration offices will give five different answers, but does anyone know the policy or have experience with a situation like this? Thanks. |

I just did this in March in Daegu. If I emember correctly you can transfer the visa up to weeks before the new job starts (that is if you're going immediately from the old job to the new).
It took about 5 minutes and had no problems at all. You need quite a bit of paperwork from both you and your new Employer.
Call the Immigration Office at 1345 - there's an English option - and they'll tell you exactly what you need to get it done. |
