My school just got a quote from the service man about how much it'll cost to replace the lamp inside our Panasonic ceiling mounted projector. It's going to cost 600,000 to be replaced. Is this typical?
The budget for the room we use can't provide the funds to replace it. It was so useful. |

They're real expensive.
Love projectors. I want to get one for my room but replacing the bulb runs more than buying a new TV.
The service man might be running the price up, but anywhere you go, it will be high. Sorry. |

IT's not even remotely that high. He's robbing you blind. The cost of the light should run between 40k - 70k won.

Ours are between 300,000 and 500,000 each, depending on the model. You're getting a huge bargain. |

so chicken: where's your secret stash of bulbs? we're not talking about cheap low powered projectors here, but a good high-powered ceiling one- if you've got a source of bulbs for that under 200 DO SHARE |

My experience with this is from a students projector during the 2002 world cup. He didn't want to buy a large TV, so he hooked up a projector and put the image on white wall in his living room (wasn't bad actually). I remember asking him how much they cost and he told me around 1.2 or 1.4M won at the time. He said the higher the pixel the more expensive (and brightness as well). One week-end we were supposed to go to his place to cook steaks for dinner when he said his projector wasn't working.
Later that week he told me he had to have it replaced, but it didn't cost much (no new projector required).
I don't recall the make or model number.
Not sure if that helps, but it's where I got my pricing idea from.

It`s not a ripoff considering it`s a japanese projector and those bulbs are expensive once they run out. |

So what's the model number on that, mouse?
I wanted to buy a projector, but they cost a mint in Korea. Especially Panasonic (which are the best, IMHO) and nearly impossible to find in KOrea.
My theory is that they have huge import fees so that they won't compete with Samsung and LG televisions in Korean homes. |
