The original KFTRA website, showing full details of English names, ages, nationality, dob, passport number, reason for blacklisting, & the ARC card number, has been withdrawn. But this surreptitious Korean version, is still up & running. 2 different websites by the same author.

Ahh, well, we'll see how it plays out.

The only reason a recruiter would be pis sed off at me is because I've left a job.

The only jobs I've left have been those that paid late more than once or did not provide NHI and pension (hagwon) and company jobs where the recruiter paid late or wanted to tax me above the 3.3% rate.

In all cases, I told the hagwon owner, or recruiter that I was going to leave unless they followed the contract.

Man, I could start a hagwon, recruiter blacklist tomorrow with ten companies on it. One recruiter would be the ever popular ***planet for sending me to a school that did not pay NHI or pension and had not paid NHI for the previous three teachers who all pulled runners. But, I would not do that cause R***** is actually a nice guy who helps a lot of folks- and he's not Korean.

I'm not sure this is a bad idea. Rather, I think its poor implementation.

This service should be expanded where everyone who employees ESL teachers provide feedback about an employee at the end of the contract.

I'm imagining the ebay reputation system ported to ESL teachers.

At the end of your contract the employer would log into the system and give a 100 character review of your job performance and assign a positive, neutral, or negative grade. (green, gray, or red.)

Teachers can also log into the system and after confirming their ID they can reply to negative or neutral grades.

With regards to bad recruiters - I say someone should start a parallel service to that end.

Except of course for the minor problems of being illegal for two reasons.

1) Korea's statutes prohibiting libel/slander. Unlike in our home countries, "the truth is not a defense" to such.

2) The Korean Constitution prohibits interfering with a person's right to seek employment.

That's interesting. Aren't quite a few of ALL of those involved and impacted by the English industry of South Korea native speakers of English who cannot speak Korean? Thanks for the help!

I can see the site but can't get the search engine to work. I do hope someone sues for defemation. On the other hand, if people can post stuff anonymously, we should all post our ex-hagwon owners' / directors' names there - at least the dickheads and bitches.

Hmmm - same on my end, YBS - today, neither my first nor last name will produce the result I had gotten yesterday.

It wouldn't surprise me at all for there to be a lurker-mole watching threads like this somewhere.

If anyone can access any of these blacklist sites, and finds info on me (Glen Jackson) - PM me, pref with a link.

If there is action & money is the outcome, I'd pay out a finder's fee!

Cheers!

It seems as if you can apply to report someone to the site as well--perhaps it would be fun to do that en masse . . .. Twisted Evil

Especially given Koreans - even English teachers - complete and utter ignorance of British slang and vulgarities.
