Well, I have to make the journey to the American Embassy from Ulsan. I need to go with my wife to apply for a visa. I got myself the last Friday of this month, and I have booked the tickets. I have her appointment set. I need to find a room nearby. I want to be near the embassy. We are unsure of when we will return exactly. The Rainbow Hotel seems appealing, so we might do that again. I am looking for other options though.

The Koreana is close, although I prefer the Seoul Plaza Hotel (both near City Hall.)

I would highly, highly recommend the Somerset Palace.. it's within a short (5 minutes or so) walk of the Embassy. It's directly across the street from the Japanese Embassy. Somerset is normally a serviced residence, but they do have rooms for nightly use. It's a very comfortable place.. I usually stay there.

Phew ... those are some nice hotels. They are a bit spendy! Anything cheaper around there?

Yeah sorry.. Since I've always lived in Seoul when I've been in Korea, I never really stayed in hotels too often out of necessity. It was usually to indulge a bit, or if the tab was being picked up by someone else. Or if I was making a short visit to Korea from somewhere else in the world.
