Just please don't give the victory sign. Or at least have the good sense to have your palm facing outward. Do the opposite on a Friday night, and you'll soon discover what I mean.

England has a good sprinkling of them somewhere, I'm sure.

Sounds rather like a donkey. |

I was under the impression since Britain invents nothing and achieves nothing in science that except for a few oxford Dons it had been abandoned. Now I believe it is the U.S. that usually sweeps the science Nobels that has a mars rover, space program, mapped the human genome, invented airplane, internet, lightbulb, so forth that it would be Americans who would be asking questions of the British about their edicational policies. |
Actually the UK is way ahead in terms of the number of noble prices it's citizens have won as proportion of population compared with the USA i.e. the UK has 1.65451 Nobel prices per 1 million people while the USA has only 0.912983 Nobel prices per 1 million people. |

I wasn't taught creationism in the science classroom. Though I did learn various creation myths in Religious Studies. I was simply taught that 'group X believe Y happened'. As for evolution, I can only remember learning about it from documentaries and an excellent talk Dawkins did once for the Royal Christmas Lectures, not at school.
Creationism is being taught at schools in the UK. This is the one criticism of 'Faith' schools. I think, you can find some interesting interviews in Dawkins' 'Root of All Evil', though it could have been 'Enemies of Reason'. Also in the 'Genius of Darwin', http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw-Xh2XOpk4 |

Creationism. It's probably why people here consider Jews to be "God's Chosen People" and want to give so much of the US Treasury to Israel and to a lesser extent the bankers.
We're not unlike the Aztecs who worshipped the Spanish and pissed away the future of their children by giving the Spanish the gold and silver. |

I do not recall.
"Evolution" did not become an issue for me until grad school. And then we studied and discussed the debates between those who argued for a long, slow, incremental process vs. those who argued for "punctuated equilibria."
Ian Tattersall's book, Becoming Human, made an impression. |
