I'm in the market for a PMP with wifi and video playback. I looked at the Ipod Touch and I think they're a bit overpriced. After the disappointment of the Ipod video, I've learned my lesson and I won't be buying Apple again. So, any good alternatives out there?

Same position here. I've seen a friend use his Touch and it's probably a little on the big size too.
I'm also looking for something to keep a schedule, possibly to sync with Google docs (perhaps through Google Gears). I would like something which may have some web coverage, and download some e-books, take notes quickly, but possibly not PMP.

I've been looking at pocket PC and palm pilots stuff, although fairly inexpensive, I would like to know if the expansion cards for wifi would work in Korea? I see them as a possible tidy solution if they work.

A PMP phone is the other option!

You wont be disappointed with an ipod touch. They are excellent. I love my gadgets and have bought many over the years but the touch has definitely been my favourite purchase.
I wasn't a fan of Apple's stuff before buying it and agree with you being put off with the old ipods(i had ipod photo).
I honestly don't think anything can compare to it now, what with the shear number of useful apps for it.
I use mine for..

Skype calls
Playing lots of games
Korean Dictionary
Dictionary
Converting units
Listening to radio stations from back home when I'm in bed.
Surfing the net and youtube/checking mail
Taking notes.
calender and reminder
Shopping lists
sunway map
nike+ at the gym
and lastly listening to music and watching videos.

I didn't think I would get that much use out of it before getting one.

Yeah I'd have to agree...Ipod Touch is probably your best option. Alternatively I guess you could try iriver. I've always liked their products but i'm not sure how much English support it carries.

No idea on prices but you can have a look here.

For me, the audio quality of Ipods is very poor and has little option to manipulate it effectively. Also, Apple's lack of codec support is a real downer. I'm a bit of an amateur tech enthusiast, and I can see past the shiny Apple casing.
For much less, you can buy similar less sexy-looking machines that offer more features, such as the Archos 605.
The Iriver P35 Wifi looks quite promising though.

I'm no Apple fan either but the Touch is actually pretty impressive.

I bought my wife one for Christmas so I had a chance to play with it for awhile. I'd give it a look (as in a hands on test) before I made a decision. I was actually surprised how much itunes has improved as well. Although I agree, the iriver p35 does look really nice.

I love my Cowon S9, but no wifi. Best sound on the market though, as well as an amazing screen for watching movies and a really good battery.

Apple really needs to build this. I thought I invented this idea last week, but seems it's been around for years.

You may prefer the sound to other players, but machine tests confirm that the Touch surpasses it in terms of soundstage and bass roll-off.

Apple is nice. I want to buy an Iphone. But it's very hard to find one in Korea.
