I do it all... Flush the toilet, let it trickle at first, or just keep it at half stream. Most of hte time it works.. sometimes there just no helpin' it. |

Yes, try half stream.. this is true for many apartments in Korea. It is possibly a pressure problem. You many not be able to get hot water at full power so it mixes with the cold water. My shower was almost too hot today. |

oh...ok...Reagan played the Gipper in the movie. George Gipp was a Notre Dame football star who died during the season. Supposedly, he told Rockne to tell the team to "win one for the Gipper." |

I've had the same problems with my shower water as the other posters here, too. But it's not just the shower - I find I have to jimmy-rig darn near everything I use in Korea: television, heater, laundry machine, fridge...you name it. It's not that any of it is so very old or of cheap price, just that I've found that a lot of Korean brand names will go belly up if I so much as look at them crosseyed. If I try to have them fixed, people look at me like they wish I'd shut up and "accept the way it is," which I more-or-less have at this point (this post aside). |

Me too. I've almost become a connoisseur of them. It helps placate my love for water. Especially going to a place like Dongnae spa in Busan. That's my sanctuary. |

all you have to do is not put on your water full power. the boiler can't cope with such an influx of water and it can't keep up heating it. you just need to reduce the flow of water a little bit. my friends is literally a little bit, mine is about a quarter reduction. |

I just bang the plastic shower head against the sink as hard as I can and shout "*****"! Also, if a soap dispenser runs out, I rip the dispnser open and squeeze the bag. If the thing won't open I rip it off the wall and throw it in the garbage can. Then I light the garbage can on fire and throw it like a moltave cocktail in the managers office.
Does anybody else get mad when there's no soap in the dispenser? |

I have experienced the same problem in many different apartments - here is how I solve it - whilst taking a shower - I keep (continually) flushing the toilet. This then directs the cold water to the toilet system - as it is refilling and leaves me with only very warm to hot water coming from the shower.
Only problem - you have to have a decent (strong) water pressure - so you don't lose too much water pressure - when the cold water is diverted away.
P.S. - I can hear my neighbours (involuntarily) when they have a shower - and therefore I guess they can also hear me - so they probably think I am a bit strange when they hear the toilet flush 50 times during my shower - but hey - I get the hot water !!! |
Thanks for the tip. I found that flushing the toilet makes a big difference. It was nice to finally have a hot shower.
My neighbour must be wondering why the freaky waygook showers while he is on the toilet. |

Actually, I have a lot of information in my head. Maybe I should start a Q & A thread like a lot of others seem to be doing...yet those are not taken seriously... |
