My town went nuts last week naming every street & alley, every lamppost now carries arrow-shaped signs very official-looking white-on-blue with consistent accurate romanization to boot. Post office sticker on my door identifies my new western-style address [number & street name].

Might considerably simplify ordering pizza to my little lane. Question: is this a local phenomenon or happening elsewhere too?

Well, there are street names and what not in my neighborhood, but when I order pizza I still have to tell them the house number and dong, along with the villa name.

Wow! i hope this trend spreads across korea...they've finally seen sense in the idea of being able to find your way around, even if you're new to the area. Incredible.
give them a couple of years, and they'll be telling us they invented street signs.

They did this in Jeolla Gwangju back in the summer of 2001. I had assumed they were gearing up for the World Cup.

The pizza deliverymen won't be able to use them because now they program the addresses into the internet to find you. The internet is not yet set up with Korean street names.
