|
|
I fully understand that this isn't everyones cup of tea, but:
Every now and again me and the lads like to go to a bar where there are plenty of foreigners, especially those of the female variety.
Hollywoods in itaewon is (sometimes) a good craic on saturday night, and we often go to Rockssins in Anyang on a wednesday/friday as that is a wicked night with good live music.
Does anyone know of any other western hangouts in the greater seoul/suwon/incheon area? Preferably G.I opso. |

I'm interested in these places in a roundabout way, but will I be refused entry based on the fact that I'm ethnically Korean?
This is not trollbait, nor am I looking for sympathy posts, as there's another thread discussing this very matter as I post this.

Just want to know whether or not I'm wasting my time by rocking up, even with my Australian passport, only to be refused entry because I'm Korean.

Osangrl - Im sure you dont scrub up too bad yourself
Is there nothing going on in Osan at all? We are looking to spread our wings a little further than Ansan & Seoul.
Jae - I know that you would be fine getting into hollywoods, as my mate takes his korean girlfriend in there and i often see gyopos in there (although not too many).
As for Rockssins in Anyang, there is always plenty of koreans in there and they even have live korean musicians on from time to time. |

Osan city is pretty tame.......of course Happy Liquor Pia is always entertaining, good booze and treats..........
Then of course there is Songtan, LOADS of GI's though, every bar is a prostitute bar minus maybe 3. They have a heavy metal club that is pretty ok.....but again lots and lots of army boys. |

I know the same bars as Monty. This posting is just to revitalize this thread from being lost in the murk of disuse.
I also would like to know of other bars that foreigners are drinking at. So, if you've got some, toss them out and we may grace them with out presence. |

My American kyopo friend was refused entry into Hollywoods a little over a year ago based on being Korean. |

Hollywood basement discriminates against non-white males. I don't know about the upstairs part though. |

Hah, there are no foreigner hangouts in Suwon. It's all segregated and nobody knows nobody else, as far as I can tell.
Sinchon(near Yonsei) is pretty OK for foreigner clientele, more of a mix really from my couple of romps there, but you can find the occasional bar full of foreigners(like The Bar). Also Korean-friendly, as there's an awful lot of American gyopos studying at Yonsei. I saw two Korean girls speaking fluently in English at Popeye's and nearly had a heart attack. |

Wait a minute, I recall a bar or two in Suwon that I went to once or twice and there were around a dozen foreigners and a dozen Koreans inside. It was near Ajou University; forget the name and exact area though, but there was a Starbucks and Home Plus near there too, and a good few bars. |

Not a bad place, a lot more social than just about any bar I've been in in Korea, the staff's good and the music is pretty good by Korean standards. But the men's bathroom *shudders.* |

There's no Home Plus near Ajudae(maybe 30 minute walk?), and there's at least two Home Pluses. Hmmmmmm....... |

Goose Goose is full of foreigners. It is in Pupyung, about 5 minutes from the station. Got a pool table too in it's own private glasshouse, or it certainly did last time I was there - 2 1/2 years ago. |

Woodstock is good, esp. if you wanna escape Korean pop and listen to some classic rock and stuff. It's also foreigner friendly as a large foreign base is usually there.
Phillies in Haebangchon is also good. The clientele is mostly GIs but the atmosphere is really friendly and it's easy to hook up with people. I remember one guy actually married a girl he met there (no joke). |
