San Fran Pride event? Do they even know what this is? Why would they be proud of BOA being at the event when Koreans themselves wouldn't want to embrace an event celebrating gays, lesbians, transgender, and "Dykes on Bikes"? What kind of reach into America do Koreans think this Pride event has?
BoA, a South Korean pop star now active in the United States, is poised to take off in the United States, stealing the limelight as a promising singer.
BoA, 22, is scheduled to perform on the Main Stage of the San Francisco Pride to be held in San Francisco June 28 along with Solange Knowles, sister of Beyonce, a top American R&B singer, and rock band Cliks.
The SF Pride's Main Stage serves as a key conduit to introduce major, cutting-edge artists on the verge of stardom. During last year's pride, Lady Gaga, who has been sweeping the Billboard Charts recently, headlined the Main Stage.
Entertainment analysts say the event will help BoA get a spotlight in the world's largest album market. In fact, the Web site of the SF Pride introduces BoA as a singer who has enjoyed an extremely successful nine-year career in Asia.
In an effort to spur her U.S. activity, BoA, has signed a contract with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the No. 1 Hollywood entertainment agency.
Under the contract, within North America, CAA is representing the 22-year-old in all areas including music, film and merchandising. The agency is mulling a U.S. tour in the late second half of the year.
BoA released her U.S. album on March 17 amid high expectations that she will be able to reenact her success story in Japan in the United States.

yeah, i just got done rockin out to the latest lady gaga album. i mean, who isn't a lady gaga fan?
but didn't we read this same article about that rain fella about 2 years ago? about how he's sweeping the youth of america up in a wave korean pride?
i think this is one of those things where her management sends out a press release and the fine people at the korea times cut and paste it into their paper, gushing phrases and all. |

I laugh every time I see her name come up because there's no way in the world she's ever going to headline anything in the US because everyone is constantly going to be thinking that it's an event sponsored by Bank of America. It's like naming yourself IBM and hoping people will be able to tell the difference. |

I have the Lady Gaga CD. Picked it up in a music store in Jinju last month and have listened to the entire album at least 7 or 8 times already. FAN-TAS-TIC stuff. A reall surprise given I had no idea it'd be any good let alone so very good.
BOA does not have the talent. |
