Air travel sucks. I feel they could do a lot better than profiling travelers on looking hippy, too cool, passport stamps, or just wanting to peek into a layover city rather than sitting in the airport for an 8 hour layover or some stupid sheet like that. Just screen everyone objectively on a set of established criteria that is effective in stopping crime and then we can all rest assured it's a fair and equitable game with nothing to worry about. Hippy looker doing a RTW on one way tickets? Isn't it obvious he's young, free spirited, and being flexible as he's taking a gap year and nothing more than maybe smoking a little pot here and there? Of course anyone with a brain knows not to take that on the plane and defintely not a gun or other contraband like that bomb you'd love to blow the fat rich corrupt bureaucrats up with. Will police begin stopping buses and pulling people off for being too hippy? I hope not.

Since any reasonably smart well traveled guy or gal knows how security, police, and airline people think, it's easy to fool them by dressing really well in a business suit to increase your chances at getting away with corrupt dealings and criminal acts. This has long been known to be fact yet the stereotypical judgmental thinking goes on an on with an assault on the innocent as the bad guys continue to pass Go for their $200 more dollars. ??? You got me. Bureaucracy and law sucks is my best answer. Just keep your cool or you're in big trouble.

I've been treated really badly in American airports, but with high respect and professionalism in Asia. Air travel sucks, especially in and out of the US and Islamic countries.

You're not on any watchlist. A one-way ticket and one hour "migration" are extremely suspicious behaviour.
Pfff. If they'd really been watching, they'd see all I did was head for a payphone, then a souvineer shop (to buy something expensive and japanese), a shop to grab some lunch, then back to the departure gate.

But getting suspicious over the one hour migration, wouldn't that be something the immigration officer would check, or customs? Not some police officer right outside the arrivals door.
Infact, it didn't even make bloody sense. He asked to see my passport... and just looked at my picture and name. Nothing else. No search. No landing permit. What good is that going to even do anyone?!

Teelo, Korea's considered a terrorist country. They have(N. Kor.), blown up planes, remember?

I've had the same scrutiny. It's airport protocal, that's all.

Funny thing is, I, a non-australian, didn't even get looked at twice when entering Sydney with "permanent migrant" written on the form, no address, and chunks of wood and water in my bags.

SOUTH Korea is not considered a terrorist country. You are aware, of course, that North and South Koreas are considered separate countries, right?

I'm only the fourth poster in this thread that's on the terror watchlist. I reckon I got put on it for associating with suspected known terrorists like Teelo, Young FRANKenstein, and harlowethrombey. Dave's must be one of those "jihadist websites" I hear about on the news sometimes.

After 911 I was travelling a lot from sandy places to the US. I got swabbed a lot flying through New York and Houston. The swab is for explosives. They wipe the outside of the bag, the handle, the locks if there are any, etc. I popped hot every time. The first time through each airport I got a taken aside while they made calls. After a welcome home, I was free to leave.

So Teelo. If I can pop hot for stuff that goes boom and not get grief....then you must be one baaaaadd mo-fo.
