Long story short, my Dell Inspiron 9400 (E1705) had a video card failure. I have a replacement card on the way but it will need a larger power supply. Reading a couple "how to upgrade your Inspiron..." pages they all mention using a 150W (19.5V 7.7Amp) power supply instead of the one supplied (90W). Looking at the specs on the back of my laptop it says power input is 19.5V 4.62Amp. Now me not being an electrician/physicist and a little over paranoid by nature. I am wondering if the 150W power supply will fry my machine. Thanks for all constructive answers.

If the new video card is going to draw that much more power, then you should be fine. Presumably the people on the "how to upgrade your Inspiron" pages have already tried it out?
