Any western females married to Korean guys on Daves?

Yes, I am married to a Korean man. I have an F5 visa. There are other women on this board who are F2s/F5s. When did you get married?

I would like to hear your stories. We hear a lot about the trials, tribulations and triumphs of the F2 men, but not much about those of the women. How is it? How do you fit into their families? Which problems are the same and which are different to the men's? What are the best points?

I teach a lot of salary men, and couldn't imagine being married to one of them with the hours they keep, let alone trying to raise kids. But that's just what I see. Can you tell us the real stories?

Hubby is a jazz musician - He has always been a bit on the outskirts of "normal" Korean society. His family doesn't demand anything, and are always grateful that I make an effort to participate in family things.

I have, however, experienced some racist remarks while walking on the street holding hands with my husband - from Korean WOMEN. I believe one such remark was "Look at the prince riding the white horse" in Korean.

I'm not in Korea now but met my Korean hubby there in '96. We've been married for 10 years and are now living in the U.S. Moving back to Korea soon, though.

Been married 10 1/2 years. We've had our good days and our bad days. We were married in Korea and moved to Canada when I got pregnant.

We moved back to Korea almost 2 years ago. My husband wants to move back to Canada but the kids and I want to stay so we are staying one more year at least.

I've been married to a Korean man for about 11 months now (and have been living in Korea almost four years). I'm really glad you started this thread because I've been looking for other women in our situation! It's really lonely because no one can relate to us...

Having a Korean husband is very different from having a Korean wife, I would imagine. Thank God my husband isn't the typical Korean husband, because there's no way I would put up with what goes on in most of the marriages here. However, my in-laws are the typical Korean in-laws, and that's been really stressful. I'm married to the eldest son of the family, so according to Korean tradition, that makes me slave to the in-laws for the rest of my life. Obviously this doesn't sit well with me, so we're escaping the country as soon as my husband finishes earning his degree.

I'd love to hear from you ladies if you ever want to vent! Other foreigners don't understand, Koreans certainly don't understand... we need to get a social network going or something!
