Does anyone know of a good graduate English literature program that is online? I found a graduate certificate program, but have not found a full literature program. I've only looked in America. I'm hoping this masters will be a good stepping stone to a doctorate. However, I don't have much money, so I think the distance learning might be cheaper given my circumstances. That said, I don't want to waste time in a bad program.

California State University @ Dominguez Hills

It's a fully accredited longstanding distance M.A. in Humanities (you can take a concentration in Literature).

It's affordable too! Only about five thousand dollars in all.

But it is quality, which means you have examinations (to be proctored where you are) and a full thesis to write and defend. Takes at least two years, many times three I hear.

one thing to keep in mind for the HUX program - which i think is strong for a distance program by the way - is that, even though your concentration can be in Literature, your MA will not be an MA in Literature - it will be an MA in Humanities. i only mention this because i think it might pose some problems for you when it comes time to transfer your credits to a PhD program. i could be wrong of course, but it's just something to think about...

Thank you all for the information and things to consider. The HUX program looks interesting, so I will think carefully about what to do. Thanks, again!
