Yesterday, I was wanting to go home. So, I got in this cab, and I told him to go to Lafesta, and he refused and said "Call!". I found it odd that he said that considering the fact that his taxi didn't say call on it. So, I am trying to get out, and I didn't even have the chance to close the door yet, and I could feel something heavy on my foot. It was a wheel! I was think to myself "What on Earth?!". So, I yell "You're on my foot". I manage to extricate my foot. I cursed him using words that would get me banned. I guess, that's natural.

If the cabbie were Zen-like, he would have had the presence of mind to notice that he refused to take me, so he should have let me get out.
What was the hurry? What he was doing was potentially more dangerous than someone running into you with an umbrella, you know?

He did apologize profusely. I accepted it, and he took me to my destination in the end. I am okay luckily. My foot is slightly bruised. I have a modicum of pain, but nothing major. I am thankful. I told him I would haven't been so mad if he didn't go over my foot. I was lucky that I had Doc Martin's on.

This is the third time in Korea that I've been hit in some way or another and came out basically unscathed. I guess it's not bad for someone having been here for three years.

My buddy did this to me once. Luckily I had some Airmax sneakers on to absorb the weight. Does hurt though. I feel your pain.

Also, cab drivers suck royal donkey reproductive parts.

I had a car roll over my foot once. It really hurts a lot less than you'd think.

Ya but the dude ran over his foot and if it had been at a different angle or something would've crippled him.

Glad to hear you're alright Adventurer...grrrr...Seoul taxi drivers!

Does anyone know what the deal is when their sign says 빈차 but they wave you away and say they're booked? This happened to me in Itaewon one Saturday night just after the subway had closed. If they are booked, shouldn't their windscreen sign say something different? Am I missing something?

I had a car drive over my hand, and nothing happened. No pain, nothing broken, but the sight of my hand under the wheel was really freaking me out.

Sometimes they're on their way to pick someone up who called. I don't think they're discriminating against foreigners. I've seen Koreans refused as well.

Yeah, but this guy was sitting in front of the Hamilton Hotel as if waiting for a random fare. To be fair, he didn't have his light on, but his sign was definitely proclaiming him to be an empty car. Does anyone know if there is another sign they should be displaying if they are already booked and just waiting for their fare?

Yes, I know. I am not looking for getting money in my life that way. I am not the kind of guy to milk things. It's not the first time I got hit in Korea. I got hit in a cab once while reading in a cab. I only wanted money for the x-rays and all and since I found out I was more than okay, I didn't want cash. They insisted I take a certain amount of money.

In this case, I have written this guy's name and cab number. So far, I am okay. My leg is slightly sore or bruised, but I am okay. I will recover momentarily.

This was in Ilsan, not Seoul. Thanks for everyone's concern. I am so glad I'm okay. I mean if things went really wrong, I could be in the hospital or have lost my foot or who knows what... I keep all that in perspective......

Hand would suck. Fortunately most of the time you'll be okay, unless the tire stops on you.

The time I had my foot rolled over, a car turned left in front of my scooter and I skidded into it, smashing into it sideways and getting my toes under the wheel. Probably looked like a pretty hardcore crash but there was virtually no damage to me or my scooter, and a nice RACETRAITOR-shaped dent in the side door of the car.
