Anyone have a favorite jazz club here in seoul? I love hearing live jazz, and am looking for a place to go. I'm in Seoul, near Gangnam. Any ideas? |

There is a cafe/bar in Hyehwa with live jazz piano most nights--it's VERY expensive, but one of the best decorated cafes I've seen in Seoul.
Sorry, I can't remember the name, but if you go out of exit 2 of the station, walk straight to the park, turn left and walk down to Platters, then turn left, it's 3 or 4 blocks down on your left-hand side on the second floor.
There are some other jazz places in Hyehwa, but I've never been to any. I'd love to hear of some more centrally located places, if there are any. |

If you have money, try Once in a Blue Moon in the Apkujeong area near the Burger King. It's pricey but the band is pretty good.
Hongdae has several jazz clubs: Palm, Evans, Moonglow and Watercock. All of them vary in quality. |

Hyewha or the Daehangro part of Seoul is popular for Jazz clubs. To enter, it normally requires a drink purchase, which are grossly over-priced, but essentially is the cover charge.
You might find this site useful for a listing of live music in Seoul-- and is pleasantly updated often.

You might find this interesting too if you are still around Korea in October:

Once in a Blue Moon isn't for the ESL crowd. Good music, classy place, dress code; took a date there (well it was her idea) and paid from memory 32,000 won for a couple of glasses of Guiness. If you go, you'll be nursing your one drink for a long time. |

so, from what i understand, the hyehwa area is the place to look. Any more specific club suggestions out there??
As for price, i don't want to completely break the bank on this, but i'll spend a bit on this... |
