Ok, team. Have a couple of kites and boards to sell. I am updating so unloading my stuff cheap.
12 and 16m Naish Boxer Kites (Used, but great condition. If you are new to the sport these are the kites for u) They come with bar and lines.

If you need lessons I can help you out. I give lessons any weekend there is wind, if I'm not boarding myself. (Busan/Ulsan) Also, some weekends in Seoul.

Hi--just curious, would you be able to direct me to any groups (English or Korean speaking) who do land-based traction kiting or buggying? I'm getting into it slowly (I bought a Pansh Ace which I am enjoying a lot), but don't have the time, money, or guts to try it on water anytime soon. I haven't seen anyone else doing it up here on the northeast coast.

On the land, ok thats cool, I land board also. I don't really know any clubs etc, but there are lots of lesson providers, pm me your number and email address and i will point you in the right direction, but we cant be friends unless you learn to kiteboard on the water lol. take care

2006 Naish kites. Fly fine. No rips or repairs. Used to teach people on the water after they could fly trainer kites and older kites, so no real accidents or problems with em. Actually I must say, these kites are in good condition.
Im traveling at the minute so no rush on the sales, but if ya need info pm me.

Looking to get US$350 for each kite and 200 for each board.

Also can sell as sets if need be.

When / where are the annual kite events?

Are there any kitesurfers/buggiers up in Gangwon--say on Gyeongpo near Gangneung or something? Ulsan is way too far (6-7 hours I think from Sokcho) for me--I have two kids and can' get away for long periods. If there were a group closer, I might consider trying kiteboarding. I remember seeing guys riding on Lake Winnipeg about ten years ago--it looked very cool.

I'm curious, though--do you get enough wind down there? It's dead calm through the summer here, and we're just starting to get wind now, which should last through spring. Kind of cold to be out in the water, I would think. Or do you wear drysuits?

Your prices seem very cheap--if only I hadn't blown my fall allowance on my Pansh and a couple stunt kites, I'd be very tempted. I'd be pretty nervous about being blown out to sea, though!

skiddleshanks, i've been kiting here in busan for two years now, the wind is variable but plenty of kite sessions can be had every season except summers, tho this fall has been crap. water varies from about 10 degrees in winter to 27 in summer. it's still 20 degrees but air is cold now so i use a 3 mm wetsuit, 5 mm hooded steamer suit in winter and nothing late spring,summer,early autumn.

to avoid being blown out to sea, one should never kite in an offshore wind, except for advanced kiters and the foolhardy!

i kited up in Gangneung Chuseok 2006, 5 of us foreign kiters here in busan took a road trip up the east coast, found some great kite spots all the way up, big waves as well, stayed at the auto camping resort midway beween Gangheung and Donghae, was a fabulous trip and i hope to do it again.

Im wondering if anyone kiteboards/ kite surf in korea. I live in busan and want to get into this sport. anyone know where i can get a setup or hook up with people who are doing this? any help would be sweet. thanks.

Hey what's up. I see that the posts are from 2007. Are there any kiteboarders here in the Northeastern part of Korea (Gangwon-do) like Sokcho, Gangneung, Samcheok?

Right now, I have a foil kite. I am looking at getting some lessons and a few larger kites. Also, I need a board or two.

Any idea where to get lessons or gear?

I met a number of the Korean kiteboarding folks last year at an international kiteflying competition at Dadaepo Beach (Busan). Great bunch of folks!

For more info, get in touch with Dongnam Ryu.

He's one of the two IKO certified instructors in that area. He's also a dealer for several major brands.

The intro course runs around KRW 150,000-200,000 (equip rental is included).

An entire course (like 20 hours) is KRW 600,000-KRW 700,000.

Other kiteboarding places in Korea: Han River (Seoul), Pyeongtaek-ho (Asan), Sihwa-ho (Gyeonggi Province), a few cities on the East coast (e. Kangnung, Donghae, and Pohang) and Jeju Island.

The biggest scene, though, and the best, IMHO, is Dadaepo.
