I'm having an air conditioner installed. The "technicians" have been at it for an hour and a half. My wall looks like swiss cheese because they're so incompetent that they haven't brought a measuring tape or a level with them. I'm glad I don't own the apartment.

Sparkling!

Oh God!!!

Just as I was about to start my specially arranged parents class in the English zone which is also my office. (using the karaoke machine). I walked into a bomb site! Half the ceiling gone because the a/c guys were conveniently called in at exactly my class time. I hope they do a good job and clean up all their junk. Their tools covered half the classroom floor!
I left them to it at finish time today.

Hope your install ended happily climber159!

yes in the land of the free contractors are gods who never make a mistake. My technician was here yesterday and didn't have to drill a hole twice. Amazing how that works.

The school board here decided to give me an air conditioner. My co-teacher informed that, for no explicable reason, the director of the board of education will be in my apartment. I don't understand. Does the director moonlight as an air-conditioner installer? That's a pretty sneaky way to get into my apartment. Luckily the place is clean, though after reading this thread I realize I may as a well have left the place a pig sty since that's what the installers are likely to do.

I had an aircon installer once who didn't see the necessity of taking off his shoes when coming into my apartment. Not only did i have black footprints *everywhere*, he even thought it okay to climb on my bed with his shoes on as he decided to install it over my bed.

When the assistant at my school returned my key to me, she apologized and informed me I had to wash my blankets and sheets. The guy even stepped on my pillow!!!

My sheets weren't sparkling, nor was my opinion of Korea.

Same here! Black scuff marks all over the ceiling from hammer swings, and there are 3 holes in the wall because the technician tried to hammer in SCREWS!
This guy didn't have a drill OR a partner, and I had to hold the airconditioner in place while he banged up the wall. After 3 holes, I was dying of laughter, and had to insist he get a drill.

Air conditioner installation outcome:

I tried in vain to take a photo last night of my wall. When I pulled my camera out I got a nasty glare and some nasty Korean words from one of the workers. Seeing as they were in my apartment, it was probably in my best interest to not piss them off too much. Anyway, a total of 12 holes for the three air conditioner mounting screws were drilled into the concrete wall. They are all now hiding behind the air conditioner so whomever takes the unit down will be in for a surprise.

I'll give them some credit though. What they lacked in competence, they made up for in courtesy. They took their shoes off in my apartment and clean up their mess.

Oh. Is it standard that a wall-mount air conditioner takes 3 hours to install?

I had a technician come by to look at a television I picked up off the street. He confirmed my diagnosis - bad power supply, buy a new television. "Where do I do that?" he looks around and sees a flyer from Homeplus... Tells me "Digital! Two years...this.. is no work."

He didn't charge me the mannon trip charge, didn't upsell me, and just said if I need a tech, ask for him.

Who's paying for this work to be done.. you or the school? Cos when the place is turned back to the owner, you can be sure the owner will take money out of your deposit for repairs.

This is on the school's tab. I've already informed them of the damage. I expect that various "VIP's" will be trapsing through my apartment in the near future to inspect.

On a side note. They installed a used air conditioner. Does anyone have experience cleaning it so as to ensure it's not blowing mold into my lungs?
