Amateurs. Twisted Evil

Good read, but nothing surprising.

The only thing that would surprise me about Pattaya would be a decrease in the riff raff!

Typical Russia bashing.

The thing is, without Russian tourists basically keeping Pattaya afloat, many Thais there would be living in greater poverty.

If they want to cut off the hand that feeds them so be it ... we'll take our business to Sochi, or Antalya, or Sharm El Sheikh or any number of other rouble-friendly package destinations.

I imagine they are painting the Russians all with the same brush based on the behavior of a few. Happens to all of us.

Agreed the vast majority of the Russians are there for the beautiful beach.

The North Americans I met were all very decent, sane and civilized, but the quality of Briton (and, yes, Korean) was barely scraping the bottom of the barrel. The rudest, most horrible Koreans I've ever met was in Thailand.

I dunno, maybe North America's dirt-eaters tend to not travel?

Angeles city: you can't tell people you are there for the beach, the temples, or the scenery.

Thais are about the only nationality that is allowed visa-free entry into Russia. There is a reason for that. Too.

Soon, Russians will be allowed visa free into Brazil and in the next two years there will be visa free travel to Venezuela and Peru - don't worry about it too much - I would rather holiday in Brazil than shitey Thailand but thats just a personal opinion! Cool

let it be said that the Thai police are doing their utmost to uncover the culprits in the Russian slaying incidents, with road blocks and increased police and marine presence on the streets of this popular holiday resort. It also needs to be pointed out that Pattaya is far from being a hot-bed of crime.

This article is a joke. Of course Pattaya is full of falang and overseas criminals. I live there about 3 - 4 months a year, and everyone I know accepts this. And it is a hot bed of crime. The local Falang TV channel used to put on a daily news show showing all the crime and shennanigans in Pattaya, but they've toned it down (political pressure). Heck, it was so good (murders, robbings, rapings, gold thefts, violent beatings, stabbings, falang 'suicide' murders).

I've seen an increase in Russian businesses (and prostitutes) in the last 4 years. And of course, Russian tourists (mainly from Siberia) who've followed the Russian wave to Pattaya. Interestingly, Thais are losing income to Russians - not gaining it. The bars/discos/restaraunts etc that Russians frequent are owned by Russian mafia. And you can bet that Thais don't see any of the money from all those apartments being sold to Russians.

Tension in Pattaya will only increase - and for 2 years I've been predicting a war in Pattaya between Thai and Russian mobsters. The Thais are not silly, and they can see their income being taken by foreigners working/scamming etc illegally in Thailand on Tourist visas.

As for the Thai police 'doing their utmost'. Ha. That's a joke. They do nothing unless their palms are greased - and you can bet the Russian mobsters owning businesses in Pattaya are 'greasing' like crazy. One Russian friend told me that he lost his job in a Russian restuaraunt because the owner couldn't afford to keep paying off the Thai police.

Mai pen rai.

There was an East German who was staying in the same hotel as me. He awoke in a drunken haze badly beaten up. He had a hazy memory of picking up a Russian freelancer.

There is am all Eurapian bargirl go go bar on walking street. The drinks are outragiously expensive. The ladies are just so so .

Vedic culture extended throughout Southeast Asia. I'm quite sure that the name Pataya is derived from the Sanskrit word Patala - which is a special type of hell. Here's a definition from a Hindu dictionary:

patala: (Sanskrit) "Fallen or sinful region." The seventh chakra below the muladhara, centered in the soles of the feet. Corresponds to the seventh and lowest astral netherworld beneath the earth's surface, called Kakola ("black poison") or Patala. This is the realm in which misguided souls indulge in destruction for the sake of destruction, of torture, and of murder for the sake of murder. Patala also names the netherworld in general, and is a synonym for Naraka.
