I'm finishing my current hagwon contract at the end of November and then plan to go backpacking in SE Asia for 2 months.
My question is...should I try to interview for Public school jobs EARLY (as in November (for the March session) or will I have to come back to Korea from SE Asia first to apply/interview for positions?
I'm really hoping I can secure a position before I leave and negotiate a plane ticket from Thailand to SK (much cheaper than from the USA).
My second question is how early can you apply for your documentation. I have 2 sealed transcripts with me but I'll need a CRC. Can I get that in November and still have it be valid by March?
I'm trying to figure this stuff out now so It doesn't bite me in the ass later on. |

You do not need to interview in person. They will fly you in from wherever you are, no problem (as long as you can get the correct paperwork from your home country). |

Do you know how early you can get a CRC before actually being hired? I'm thinking of mailing for it early october so I can have it by the end of November for the new job. Would it still be good for March 2010? |

Well, I am currently working in Japan and have just secured a SMOE position. I got all of my paperwork together through a mixture of internet and express mail services.
It has been a lot more difficult than if i had been in the UK (my home country) but it is possible.
Also the CRC is valid as long as its within 6 months of your start date.
As you have previously had an E2 visa, you should also be able to apply from a 3rd country, say in the Korean embassy in Bangkok for example. |
