Ad Hominem. Please keep the insults to a minimum. And I addressed all of your quotes.

Honestly, your views are absurd.

Ad hominem. Ad Hominem..

You sound like a nazi, unless everybody submits to your secular fanaticism, they are worthy of abuse. You're the one obsessed with the beard, the OP is about bad manners. I never even mentioned the beard. Cool

Of course you never mentioned the beard!! It's OBVIOUS why these jerks "snikkered" at you! Next time tell the WHOLE truth! "btw, I'm bald and have a long hairy beard."

It depends on the sect of Islam. Most importantly, in the free world it depends oin your personal choices, which are subject to derision, I'm sorry to say.

You seem to suggest I shouldn't have the right to keep a beard, but if I decide to have one, I should accept abuse.

we're going in circles. Most importanlty you should be pious, humble, and caring, in the land of the kaffir.
Free country; of course you have the right ot have a beard. We're not in jalamanabadh. I'm saying that when someone chooses to have a bald head with a long hairy beard, in friggin South Korea, they better be ready to get plenty of these:

This is unislamic. Please be kind and humble.

Violence is not the answer. Neither is resentment, anger, or antagonism. I'm sorry to say that your choice of a beard subjects you to the free world's mockery, and I would like to apologize on their behalf. A caring person in the free world should not mock your beard, but I guarantee that it WILL happen. I wish it didn't. Be ready for it. Or buy a razor. Welcome to the free world.

I was eating my weekly meal at a restaurant in Itaewon. In comes a Korean guy with his Indonesian friend.

They sit opposite (to the right of me), look my way, look at each other and snigger quite loudly, long enough for it to be noticeable.

I greet the Korean guy and ask him if he has been inhaling helium. I am sure he pretended to not understand me, so I explained it to him using single words, short sentences and gesture.

So, they kind of shut up, and I begin to chat with the Korean guy. He pretends to not understand me when I say various words, even when I say each sound clearly and loudly i.e. P-Y-E-O-N-G-T-A-E-K, and from his slimey grin it was obvious he was trying to wind me up, to make his friend laugh.

I asked him if he was deaf and start to talk to him like he is retarded.

I was losing my patience, but not letting it show. I asked the Korean if he likes Korean food, which he affirmed.

We were sitting in an Indian/Pakistani restaurant. I thought I would assert myself, so I asked the Korean if he ate dogs. He said he had it once and it was a delicacy.

I said to him it was disgusting, he looked a bit surprised. He then looked a bit more serious than before, as he left I imitated his awful, fake laugh and bode him farewell.

He looked quite surprised and walked off smiling, but not as arrogantly as before. I felt it was necessary to put him down a bit.

Am I proud of this? Do I feel 'big'? No...............

But when I am minding my own business, eating my lunch, if a fat, nasty fool is trying it on, I feel it is important to let them know they are scum and that I think they are scum. Laughing

Then you had gay sex with the Indonesian???

I don't go by numbers.

I hate baseball, why on earth would I wear a cap?

I do have a t-shirt I love to wear. I designed it myself. It has the word 'Muslim' written on it, with 2 stylish stars on either side.

I may show that on youtube soon. Laughing

There are some serious flaws in your ability to use logic in this discussion fromtheuk

1. You do not know for certain that any snickers/sneers/whatever were directed at you.
2. You are bothered by the fact that the Korean could not/would not respond to you speaking English.
3. You compare having a beard to skin color and rape - definite leaps of logic there.
4. You seek to battle anyone who suggests you may have had other options.
5. You think that calling someone a 'girl' is an insult.

Once again, all I see here is a foreigner behaving badly.

1. You do not know for certain that any snickers/sneers/whatever were not directed at me.
2. You are bothered by the fact that a Korean could/would blatantly pretend to be stupid.
3. You misrepresent my statements as regards having a beard, skin color and rape. You cannot understand hypothetical situations.
4. You seek to condemn anyone who suggests you may be wrong.
5. You think that comparing a man without facial hair to a girl is unreasonable. Well, how many girls do you see with beards?!!

Once again, all I see here is a condescending person, who insists I may be wrong. Laughing

1. You are correct - I do not know. Nor do you know for certain that it was directed at you. You assumed. And there in lies your potential mistake.
2. Another assumption.
3. Your hypothetical situations are so disconnected from the topic that they border on asinine.
4. Mind showing me where I have done so?
5. Yes. Not only is it childish to try to call a man a girl because he does not have a beard, but it is also sexist to somehow associate calling someone a girl as a comeback against criticism.

It's more than obvious in this thread that the majority of posters are calling you out on your actions. If you want to continue to be determined not to change - of course no one can change that.

But whatever your motivation was for the OP, it's obvious that you won't be garnering sympathy for it.

The condemnation arises from your statement this is evidence of another foreigner behaving badly.

Let us pretend for a moment I was correct in my interpretation of events, would you say no response at all would be justified?

If the answer is yes, you appear to be an apologist. In that case, Koreans must be allowed to mistreat foreign people without any response. I suppose you think you're sensible?

I don't need sympathy, I've highlighted bad manners from one Korean person. The truth must be told! Laughing

Here's a funny video for the non psychotic folks, excluding Mr. nutterbar aka fromtheuk.
It may help to read the rest of the post prior to watching as the video is in Japanese.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=extOHlfo4Ro

People may notice that at about 3:13 in the video the viewing commentators begin to laugh inexplicably. Laugh inexplicably about a Korean holding a gun and taking aim. If you were ignorant to the situation you might choose to ignore the music which is a "detective riff" from many classic Japanese dramas.

You see the sniggering is in relation to a popular culture reference. Nothing more nothing less. The Korean Olympic shooter takes a stance that is familiar to the audience, and the music inspires a comedic reaction.

They specifically picked a Korean Olympic shooter for skill, not to make fun of him. Problem is that lesser creatures will just hear the laughter and assume they are making fun of the person in view. The world is much more than your own view of it, try a different angle every once in a while.

Ever think that maybe, just maybe, your appearance may inspire a comedic popular culture reference in Korean culture?

Have fun feeling superior when in fact you just make yourself look all the more incorrect.
Remember life isnt a stupid contest, and even if it is dont go out of your way to win.

EDIT: For those not interested in anything else it is a video from the TV show "seed of trivia" which may as well be the Japanese version of mythbusters.
They are testing an old proverb that is roughly "when the weak gather they become strong" by stacking tissue paper to see how many sheets it takes to stop a bullet.
