Round 2 has been posted at the Hub of Sparkle.

It really is a great series, no matter on what your views of ATEK are. Check it out.

And in order to avoid moderation, please keep the discussion here limited to issues addressed on that website. Allegations regarding former members of ATEK are off-topic. Let's address ATEK, the organization, pros and cons, and let's keep it clean.

Their guide to teaching in Korea was a pretty good resource for a newbie. Otherwise I have trouble thinking of bigger waste of time by an expat group anywhere.

FYI - That website he just linked not only comes with information about ATEK, it also comes with a lovely VIRUS. My computer just picked it up. It's part of a web tracker. So, be careful if you don't want stuff like web trackers or viri on your PC.

atek - virus = potentially synonymous

Could have used that warning last night...thanks for the heads-up CL.

I've been clicking on that link for almost a week now and I can safely say it DOES NOT contain a virus.

You must have picked it up from somewhere else Rolling Eyes

All it takes is that first click. Then each subsequent click from your PC is irrelevant because your PC already has the tracker installed.

You're wrong. I clicked on the link and my anti-virus popped up, with that very weblink indicating that there was a web tracker (a.k.a. worm) attached to the site. Were you here in front of my PC when the pop-up came up? Have you given any thought to the fact that perhaps my anti-virus picked it up and yours did not?

Do YOU want your every click traced or every web visit traced?

Do whatever you want. I think I know a wee bit about PCs to understand a warning pop-up from my anti-virus. It's okay though. Do whatever you want. Smile

Edit - Actually, I think you are right. It's not a virus. It's a freaking worm. I used the wrong term. Thanks for that.

Possibly it's a webtracker which is harmless - download Spybot Search & Destroy and it will get rid of all the webtrackers and immunize your computer at the same time. A worm is a type of virus and is very dangerous. I DO know what I'm talking about so plz in the future get yourt facts straight before rambling on about viruses, worms, and webtrackers.

Sorry Ruraljuror, this thread has been taken over by irrelevant nonsense. I agree with your original intentions of discussing ATEK, pros and cons, and not getting side tracked discussing certain people or other stupid stuff.

Maybe you can start a new thread and let this one die out as it's already way off track.

Sorry Cubanlord, but I don't think the word "Virus" in big red font was necessary. Spyware is nothing to get your panties wet over. Worms are dangerous and so are viruses; but spyware, come on man, download Spybot and you'll have nothing to worry about. I'd love to see your [over]reaction when a REAL virus or worm infects your computer Very Happy

Here you go Cubanlord, free of charge, since I'm such a nice guy:

Another tangent here. And why not? This thread has gone off on several already.

No, not everyone is computer savvy. Especially the housewives who run internet cafes yet don't know dick about computers. You tell them to clean up their machines and the pull out the duster and the Lysol spray. Curiously, the internet cafes are where most travelers do their internet banking. These are machines that are already infested with mal-ware, worms, and bugs. When you check the internet options on these machines, they're set up to save history, forms, and passwords. When I check my hotmail on these, I see people's hotmail usernames on the main page for all the world to see.

P.T. Barnum was wrong. There's a sucker born every second.

Thanks for setting my mind at ease Tobias.

For a couple of minutes, I thought H1N1 had mutated, made love to a pig virus and I'd be quarantined for four weeks without pay when I came back from holidays on Sept. 1. Wink
