my SECOND coteacher threatened to put me on a blacklist for some obscure reason..... I called her on it, in front of the VP, who seemed a bit shocked, but why I have no idea....

anyway, the VP said they'd at least give me what I took as a MILDLY positive review to a new school- given the amount of headaches Ive had with GEPIK, I made sure to tell her I only wanted to teach OUTSIDE the region, which seemed to go well.....

but as for whetehr the coteacher was telling the truth or not, who knows.... I have a few more days to torture her, to I'll see what I can dig up. Man of action, reporting for duty! Wink

No such thing as a black list. They look at your passport and make assessments.

Actually, there is a sort of blacklist here. My GF's sister works for a company that also does recruiting and there is a website with a blacklist of teachers. It is completely arbitrary and there are some of the stupidest reasons ever as to why certain teachers are blacklisted.

Any because they're black?

That's cuz they call it a White Burger-Flipper List.

That's cuz, cuz.

Don't make me come over there, Ying-Lee. Cuz I will.

We both know someone who's on that list and it's not me. And he keeps getting jobs.

I'd work at White Castle or the equivalent in Canada: The White Spot.

Free burgers, man.

Anyway, who needs pubic schools and hak wons. I'm drinking makkoli right now and surfing porn.

If my coteacher ever did that to me I'd personally shake her hand and thank her from letting me ever return to this dump and then laugh histerically.

Several exist.

Obviously some more private than others

There is a website however that is well known and where it's posted. It showed up in Dave's once in all Korean. I remember seeing a whole bunch of name with pictures, and Korean comments. It was quite professional forum too. I'm guesing hagwon owners were annoymous so they couldn't be charged with slander.

Either way, if he sent out 50 and didn't get any responses there something definatley wrong.

I've known people who were told by prospective employers that they were blacklisted. That's after they'd bailed on some nasty schools with the wrong bosses...
