So, this hagwon supposedly pays 5 million won / month for SAT prep.
Can anyone verify? What's the vacation like? |

Is that really the name of the hagwon? Jeez...
Haven't heard of them, but 5 mil sounds about right for test prep in that area. May or may not be a summer position only -- check it out. The vacation for these boutique schools isn't usually scheduled into the contract; during low periods, if you have a week off because students are busy, you take a vacation.
If you find this kind of position, though, why post it on here where someone else might see it and scoop it from you? It's doubtful that anyone from Dave's actually works there. |

I don't want the position. Some guy at that hagwon is going around "bragging" about their salary.
I wanted to know if he's full of crap, or if a 5 mil / month job actually exists in the ESL industry. |

You don't want the position? If someone were to offer you a position paying 5 million a month, you'd turn them down?
These jobs absolutely exists, Gangnam test prep is the single most lucrative area in ESL, though most ads that I've seen request kyopos with Ivy League degrees. But they definitely exist.
Also: don't count other people's money. |

A lot of things factor besides money. Vacation days, benefits, level of work stress, etc...
I really love my current job. |

5 mil is on the low side for SAT prep during the summer months. |

But considering the crap you have to put up with, the insane working hours (weekends of course), and don't forget the hysterical parents that think you just ruined their precious son/daughter's future by not giving them a perfect score on the test...it's really not enough. If i got paid maybe 10M a month, than i could do it. Anything less and i'd say NOT WORTH IT. |

i had a friend rake in this much at a hagwon. mainly because he wanted to move to thailand and they wanted him to stay and asked him much he wanted. he said 5 mil. initially they said no, but they needed him and wanted him, so they paid.
he worked like a dog. saturdays. even sundays. a year later he moved. lots of money in the bank.
the guy is probably telling the truth, but like another person pointed out, 5.0 is low for SAT prep in that area. should be more like 6-7. |
