|
|
BACKGROUND:I recently re-signed with my current public/private school. The renewed E2 contract would have started in 3 months time.
However, since I re-signed and renewed my contract, the POE has cancelled my extra contract benefits. (I know. I know, they weren't in writing.) My school has been very kind to me this year, and I've unwittingly put them in an embarrassing position with the POE.
So, as there are no longer any incentives for me to stay in rural Korea, I've resigned and asked for my contract renewal application to be cancelled.
MY PROBLEM
(1) How can I ensure that the POE really cancels my contract renewal with Immigration? (I may reapply to teach in Korea in another 5 months or so.)
(2) I have to extend my current ARC (by 2 days) to fulfill my current contract.
So is there an immigration form etc I can use to ensure that my contract renewal is really cancelled with immigration?
Any info appreciated. |

Did you just sign the application form or the actual contract?
If you just signed the application form and submitted it, just giving your school "a letter of non-intention to renew contract" and send a copy to your local education office would clear you.
They cannot extend your e-2 visa without signed renewal contract. |

They can't have done anything with Immigration yet because your current period of sojourn cannot be extended before two months of expiry. |

Unfortunately, I signed a application form to renew my contract and also a new EPIK contract. They've both been forwarded to the POE.
Any ideas. |

To extend your e-2, you have to submit SIGNED visa extension application form along with your contract and your ARC card. If you haven't signed the visa extension application form (immi form), your school along cannot extend your visa. Plus, they need your ARC card to write in your new expiry date if extending your visa. So as long as you don't sign the immi form and give up your ARC card, you'd be ok.
Just give your school a short letter why you decided not to renew. Good luck. |

Thanks Ramen. You just made my day.
I'll still submit a signed visa extension application to Immigration (along with my old original contract) - but my extension will now only be for the 2 days I need to complete my current contract.
Great stuff. |
