This is interesting.
My schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10-10.40, 11-11.30, 11.35-12.00 lunch then 1.30-2.10, 2.15-2.55, 3.00-3.45, 4.05-4.50, 4.55-5.40, 5.45-6.30
Tuesday, Thursday 10-10.40, 11-11.30, 11.35-12.00 lunch then 3.00-3.45, 4.05-4.50, 4.55-5.40, 5.45-6.30
My boss has just told me today that he is changing the schedule to include a finish time of 8.00 for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Also, from March he is opening the school on Saturdays.
As there are only 2 foreign teachers, it looks likely that i'll be doing extra lessons in addition to the inconvenience of working Saturdays (I was 'promised' that i wouldn't have to work on Saturday. Incidently, ALL promises that were made, and written into the contract, have now been broken).
What would be a reasonable pay increase to expect? How long is a piece of string? But would 200,000 a month seem reasonable? |

What's more important to you: money, or free time?
If you don't want to work Saturdays, just say no.
My contract said M-F, then boss told me I'd be working Saturdays. I said no. I didn't work Saturdays.
If you're early in your contract, he's not going to sack you now, as he's just paid the cost of flying you in to Korea. |

Man that is one rough schedule. You must feel crazy everyday.
I would also agree with iconsF. You need to say no and be firm about it. You'll burn yourself out really quickly. |

When I started here I started in the afternoon with an hours of prep followed by five hours of teaching - as is written in my contract.
Now my days are completely lopsided. I usually have a couple of days at the prison... erm I mean, hogwon, where I am there for 12 hours. Schedule changes are constantly made throughout the week.
Now there is about to be an annoucement about the number of hours we are required to be at work, which is basically 150% of the hours listed in my contract.
That'll go over really well in the staff meeting...

Why the heck are you people working on Saturdays???????
And I hope to heck you're getting paid OT for the extra hours you are working above what's in your contract.
For gosh sakes people, either get some backbone or don't complain on here. |

Today officially sucked for me...
Worked from 11:30am-8:00pm... taught 8 classes, 4 middle and 4 elementary... I'm friggin' exhausted. At least I got to make five of the little brats cry today... that felt good. |

Good grief, you people have nice schedules.
Mine is:
9:40-10:10, 10:20-10:50, 11:00-11:30, 11:40-12:10
2:00-2:30, 2:30-2:55
3:00-3:30, 3:30-3:55
4:00-4:55, 5:00-5:55
And then two/three times a week 6:00-6:55.
One of our Korean teachers just quit, so I have kindy without her. The class has turned into a bunch of screaming monkeys. |

6:30-7:20, 8:30-9:30 AM then 5-9 PM Monday to Friday.
That said, I've got all day off to enjoy the sunshine in summer, I never get dong-chimmed, and students take me out for drinks. |
